Decline in morals and values in the world today

Today many people are very self-centered and only care about looks and money when they should also be focused on taking care of their body or making their children have a stable background other than having money. In today's society, the decline of teenagers is very known due to; mass media, peer pressure, and poor family involvement, according to research gate.net. Our youth education system also fails to impart moral and ethical values, while being placed based on money and power stated by, kashmirpen.com. Since our ethical and moral values are degenerating and people are becoming more self-centered and materialistic we won't have children to learn how to have those things and be better and to do that people have to learn more moral principles and values to help the new generation of children and yourself be a better and more responsible citizen, as stated by ddeku.edu.

Moral decay in Ancient Rome

Moral decay in the ancient city of Rome was most prominent in its final years standing, before breaking down like an engine, both due to outside and inside forces. Roman thirst for cruelty, as seen in the Yale National Initiative website, caused instability within the values and morals that were built alongside the many years of the Empire's existence, crumbling more with every year leading to it final stand. Another factor in the fall of this Great empire were foreigners, who brought and sometimes replaced traditional and important values which the Romans had, taking important parts of Roman tradition and replacing it for their own. The use of the enslaved people for entertainment, such as gladiators, spread blood across the Empire's many pages in history and only increased the lust for blood within the people of Rome; this rise in violence only brought a decline to the city in popularity and brought unnecessary stress to those travelling these now dangerous streets. Rich peoples/authorities of high placement in Roman society did not help with reducing this decline in morals and values, instead fueling it by greed and spending their money on unimportant and expensive parties which only occupied the ones who could be helping in some way, if they had even thought to do so. Change in religion and age-old practices also started to collapse along with the Roman Empire as Christianity and many other systems of belief started to grow, with only a few remaining within the small communities that continued to exist on the basis of tradition and values hundreds of years old. Rome was not only destroyed by its enemies, but the destabilized morals of its people and their craving for more than they needed.

SDG's : Sustainable Development Goals in Ancient Rome

The SDG which I chose to relate to the subject is Responsible Consumption and Production because of the many Roman faults of greed and misuse of power. A stable community, as provided by Toppr, is a "self-perpetuating and final biotic community that is in perfect harmony with the physical environment", undisturbed by both natural and man-made occurrences. We see that the Romans could not follow this rule of responsible consumption, misusing their power for their own benefit and entertainment. If the Romans had done differently, their empire could have lived just only a little longer (if we take in consideration outside forces, such as barbarians). This SDG focuses on using what you have and using it to its full potential, which we instantly see contrasting with the preferred glamour of the Romans. Production was also a big part of Rome, with the Empire growing so big at one point that it could not manage to feed the people within it, so more overworked and tired people led to a slow in economy, which can also slowly branch off into SDG's 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The Romans, after conquering so much and battling so many, "woda sodowa uderzyła do glowy", which is what we say in Poland when someone who's succeeded starts to become to full of themselves and it starts to impact the people around them.

SDG's: Reduced inequalities

The decline in morals and values most relates to the SDG reduced inequalities because of how people are very materialistic in today's society. Because of that, they are more biased when it comes to younger students enrolling in school, they place you in better positions based on your money and power. Whilst the other people of the lower class get the least amount of opportunity when it comes to education or jobs. This also comes into with how you can easily bribe some to get your way and how people bribe their way to winning contests, raffles, grades, or anything that involves work. Even if we reduce inequality crime rates could still go up but doing this is like taking it one step at a time until we reach our goal!!
