She said hello to them. She was also the opposite of them. Her culture was much different then theirs. They also had fur on their faces. They spoke a different language than Morning Girl so they couldn't understand what she was saying. Lastly, She thought they were brainless gulls because they weren't responding to herb and she thought they were silly.

She thought this because they nearly tipped over there canoe. Another perceive Morning Girl saw/thought was that they had a confusing language. In the text it says,"Maybe he was talking Carib or some other impossible language" says Morning Girl. Finally, the last thought Morning girl had about the explorers was that they were wearing funny hats and funny clothes.I know this because in the text Morning girl says that the men had wrapped every part of there body in cotton and colorful leaves.Which were really clothes Morning Girl was unaware what clothes were. Those are three out of the many perceives Morning Girl had on the European Explorers.

They Europeans gave them gifts too, but were worth much less money to get. The trade was not fair. He described them by saying,"They painted their body with different colors." And," They seemed very poor and had very little clothes." He thought they would be easy to make them Catholic.

Columbus perceives the Native Americans as gullible , fairly naked and colorful. Columbus thinks the Native Americans are gullible because the Native Americans traded everything they had (like parrots, cotton thread in balls, and small boats)but Columbus traded them worthless things like red caps, bells and small glass beads. Of course the Native Americans thought the items were very precious. Columbus also thinks that they are "fairly naked" is because Native Americans didn't wear much clothes. Columbus wrote in his journal " They were as naked as their mothers bore them." Columbus thought the Native Americans were colorful was because they were painted with body paint, in different colors. Columbus stated in his journal " Some paint themselves black, and some of them paint themselves with white, some with red, and some with whatever they find."

Columbus perceived that the Native Americans were easily fooled, and gullible. While the Native Americans gave the Europeans things such as parrots, hunting spears (Javelins), and cotton strings, Columbus gave them things that were accepted happily, but the balance of the trade was still bad. Columbus gave them glass beads, and bells. Columbus also thought they were very poor, for they wore little to no clothes, and painted their faces. However, they were no more than 30 years of age. Columbus thought they had never used weapons, as when he gave them swords, they cut themselves. Even though he had these thoughts, he also thinks they were be good slaves, because they can do anything he says to them quickly. He also thinks it will take no effort to turn them into Christens, for they seem to have no religion. Following these thoughts, Columbus will take six Native Americans (As slaves!) back with him when he departs.
