These are things students can see, feel, and hold.  Sometimes this means giving them a "prize" or a reward such as extra recess or a field trip (Magana & Marzano, 2014).
Strategy 2:  Phone Calls, Emails, and Notes:
Positive contact with parents is crucial in any classroom. When a teacher has taken the time to communicate positives with parents it is much easier for them to listen if you have to make a negative phone call. Technology can enhance this strategy by allowing students to choose free computer time as one of their activities they can choose.  
Strategy 2:
Technology can enhance this strategy because it makes parent contact so much easier! Email has opened up almost instant contact with parents of our students.  You can also use sites such as Facebook.

To implement strategy 1 I would offer students a Fun Friday time.  This would give them an opportunity choose an activity they enjoy doing as a reward for staying on task all week and completing all assignments, while maintaining a positive attitude.  
Implement Strategy 2: I love to call parents and hear the surprise in their voices when they find out that you are NOT calling with bad news!
