This film focuses much on the relationship between a dog and it's owner. Even though the dog is our narrator/protagonist, he mostly talks of his relationship with Nan.
He feels as if Nan doesn't spend very much time with him in the beginning. After Nan realizes she doesn't have much time left with Martin, she starts spending more time with him, and although Martin is sad about cancer, he's glad to have a better relationship with Nan.

1. A lot of close-ups, especially with the interviews with the dog. We do get some Medium shots and Wide shots, but for the most part the main focus are the interviews.

The angles give us the perspective from the dog's life. A lot of angles looking upwards, and usually our characters are front facing.

Pacing and editing are straight forward. Lot of direct cuts, as well as L-cuts of what the dog was talking about. Nothing fancy, but was effective in terms of storytelling.

Very little music. Just capped the beginning and end of each segment. In terms of sound design, we get a lot of interview chatter, but we do get a little back and forth with the owner and dog.

2. For the most part we found the story humorous. The cancer storyline at the end was a curveball, it did a good job of giving the audience different emotions to work through.

Time Traveler has an excellent sense of composition and framing. The film often tends to work with very open and wide shots with lots of space to be filled. Close ups are rarely used, and even when they are, the film manages to maintain a consistent sense of scope. The editing stays relatively simple and unnoticed. Replicating a dull, colorless and boring outlook on life from the small eyes of an ambitious young child. In major contrast however, once Martin starts to drive the car, it feels like the film enters a whole new genre. A grand action-adventure type score swells into the scene, the editing grows evidently more flashy and fast-paced, adding a real feeling of intensity and exhilaration to the scene. Then after a very sudden cut and they return home, everything starts to wind back down again. It’s almost like being woken up in the middle of the best dream you’ve ever had.
