         <description><![CDATA[<div>The group above have now finished their Art Block, which amounted to 4 lessons total, one of which only 3 students were present. We set the art room up as a special effects make up studio and the school library as a photoghraphy studio where students used their knowledge of single light source, noir style and the elements of photography to create dark, contrasting portraits of their peers (Teams of 3 - photographer, lighting technician and muse).<br><br>Both TY groups are now working together to create headshots of the 15 actors/ actresses taking part in the TY Production of 'The Music Man'. This week we begun painting the set, carried out character research, practiced portrait photography and will be setting up our studio next Friday, with assistance from Mrs. Reynolds (Musical Co-ordinator), Anna Coen from 5th Year (make up artist) and all of TY. Black and white headshots of each student (in character) will be taken to a high standard, these will then be digitally manipulated and lino printed, the current TY Art Group working in pairs to create lino print portraits and a written Bio of their 2 characters.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This group have just begun Art as of this week (2 lessons), they were introduced to the Art Room, given their art packs and took part in a lesson on drawing/line drawing/tone to begin. They have now practiced creating tone with line drawing in preparation for etching. This week coming we will develop a story and character to go with our houses (streetview photographs being emailed this weekend), be introduced to drypoint etching and decide on which image to etch (either house or character), students will then go on to digitally impose their artwork (photographs, drawings and etchings) to create an image which illustrates their story.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Students have taken a trip to the Heritage Centre and were there told the story of the bog body found in their hometown, they have fabricated versions of the story based on&nbsp;speculation and hearsay and carried out online research also. This research has formed the basis of their weave designs which have gone through a development process through drawing, mind mapping, thumbnail sketching, they are currently being finalised. Students have practiced weaving on small looms in preparation for beginning their final piece in the coming week. We are also creating a stop motion animation telling the story of the 'shark' who lurked in the bog lake and killed our Gallagh Man. </div>]]></description>

We are then moving on to the Craftwork, Kieran (above) has already begun designing his lino, the 5 female students have chosen Ceramics as their craft, we will begin with designing the finished piece and work into the Workbook throughout the 5 weeks, taking a less linear approach to the framework.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>The group of 1st Years before Midterm created screencasts of the two final drawings they completed; A drawing of their house from a photo and an imaginary character from their spooky story they wrote on Friday 13th. These were superimposed using Photoshop (students followed illustrated step-by-step guide in small groups with a team leader), to create 3 versions of different opacity to add to the &#39;spookiness&#39;. They then recorded themselves speaking their story and recorded a Screencast of the two in tandem (This was not as straight forward as using Photoshop and required a lot of teacher assistance re. rewinding, re-recording, truncating, etc.) Our last class was just before Halloween where we turned off the lights, closed the blinds, wore masks, ate sweets and watched everyone&#39;s screencast.</title>
