The rights and responsibilities of students in a Humanities classroom are established through collaboration and consultation and agreed upon by each class member. A humanities classroom focuses on a "values education, including primary ethics, character education and philosophy" (Green & Price, 2019, p. 364) with the objective of developing citizens who act with moral and ethical integrity. 

A humanities classroom also focuses on a community of inquiry approach that provides educators with a pedagogy that has the potential to empower learners by discussing questions that matter and do not have ready-made answers, including questions around social justice (Green & Price, 2019, p. 376).
