Biogeochemical cycles are global recycling systems that interconnect all organisms.
*Carbon cycles circulate through the biosphere
-CO2 gas is a temperature controller on earth.
-Photosynthesis creates carbon in the biosphere.
-Fossil fuels also contain carbon.
-Global warming has occurred because of carbon dioxide.
*Nitrogen is recycled through the earth's systems by different types of bacteria.
-Specialized gas converts gaseous nitrogen to ammonia in nitrogen fixation.
-Nitrification is the process of bacteria, converts ammonia in the soil to nitrite and nitrate ions.
-Ammonification is a decomposer bacteria, converts detritus into ammonia and water-soluble salts.
-In denitrification, nitrogen leaves the soil. Then two things convert NH3 and NH4 back to nitrite and nitrate, nitrogen and nitrous oxide gas are released into the atmosphere.
*Phosphorus cycle does not include the atmosphere. The major reservoir is terrestrial rock formation
-the limiting factor for plant growth is the limit on phosphate
-fertilizer for plant growth
-limits growth in producers freshwater steams and lakes due to low solubility.
