The  two restaurants had made him rich. On page 72 it says bud lawerence saw the article about the new word, he had his lawyer file a preliminary trademark claimon  the word frindle. In one chapter it said that Bud Lawrence was slelling frindles/pens with the word frindle. He was just trying to get money. On page 78 it says, " The whole country knows that that that little kid made te word, and unless you make a deal with his dad, you're going  to end up with nothing--mabey a big fat lawsuit." On that page they are talking about whats going to happen if Bud Lawrence sold a bunch of things with the word frindle  on it, so he can get a bunch of money. I think the author put this charactor in the book because I think this charater could affect the way this book ends.
