Qualities that make Troy good and bad is that he cares for his family and loves them but his way of showing it isn't always there. He isn't very supportive when it comes down to his kids. For example his sons are really good people that wants to do something good in their life but Troy wouldn't even go down to the bar to see his son play music and troy doesn't want his other son to play football. Troys also good because he is honest he told his wife that he was cheating. his role in the Maxson family is to support them make sure they have everything they need.

the qualities that make troy a morally ambiguous character is that he cares about others and he pushes he's kids to be better then him , even though he can be a little selfish and pushy but I believe he only did it to push he's family to be better then he was he didn't support he's son football carrier because he was scared that he's son wasn't going to make it and get hurt just like he did , and also troy didn't believe a black man can make it to the NFL around that time . he was protecting he's family from the outside world.

some of qualities that make troy morally ambiguous are that he cares and provides for his family but his activities in the streets affect the relationships that he has with his family. He wants to teach Cory how to be a man and not turn out like he did but constantly tries to control his life and treats him like a child.

Troy's qualities can be mistaken for bad because the way he is. He is controlling and demanding especially towards his son but that is because he is trying to teach him life lessons, he wants his son to be the best he can be. Troy's father didn't care about him so troy doesn't quite understand how to explain how he feels to his family they think that he's some kind of trash when all he has ever done was take care of them. Troy pushed Cory so he wouldn't come out like he did but he pushed too hard and without knowing how to convey what he means, it just drove his son away. He wanted his son to be the best he can be, aside from cheating on his wife he only meant for the best , Rose explains this in the end when she says that Troy was the best he could be for the family. Troy's role was basically a provider he just tried to make sure everyone was healthy and taken care of, had food and a house.

many things make troy a ambiguous character. troy wanted the best for his son so he pushed him so cory dosent come out like him. troy wants his family to have a responsible life even though he could have freedom and have a affair. he dosent wasn't his son to play football because he thinks that the whites wont let him play. troy wants him to work and make money. sometimes he is very selfish but he wanted the best for his family. troy is demanding on his son because he wont want the same problems he had to happened to his son. at the end of the movie rose was describing to cory how he wanted good things for his family. troy worked hard and provided food and a place to sleep.

At the very end, Rose was explaining how all Troy ever did was try to do good for the sake of his son and wife. At times it might've seemed like he did things with malicious intent but truly he did his best to display his love towards his family. One of the best ways to explain things is by using Baseball as an analogy
