Un objetivo es el fin último al que se dirige una acción u operación. Es el resultado o sumatoria de una serie de metas y procesos. Se dice que la persona después de haber identificado un objetivo cuyo logro considere importante, tiene que ser capaz de describir las acciones que representen el significado de éste. En otras palabras, ser capaz de describir los resultados específicos que, si se consiguen, le hará asumir que el objetivo también se ha conseguido. Por ejemplo, si una persona quiere una casa propia en un futuro, primero se establece como metas, estudiar o formarse como profesional, trabajar, conseguir el dinero y la hipoteca, entre otros.
