GAS is the predictable steps of reactions that follow a stressor. It contains three stages; the alarm stage, the resistance stage, and the exhaustion stage.

The Alarm Stage

This stage is the initial response to a stressor. This contains the fight-or-flight responses. The body starts to release a hormone that increases heart rate, blood pressure, and blood sugar, which gives the body extra energy.

The Resistance Stage

This stage is when the body continues to resist a stressor. Hormones are still released, which lasts on how intense the stressor is and the body's power to adapt.

The Exhaustion Stage

If something fails to resist the stressor, they reach this stage. Energy is finally depleted, which results in consequences.
