A friendly and affectionate family climate is important for the well-being of the pupil. On a material level, the well-being of my pupils means access to modern teaching materials and equipment.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I work in a VET school in Northern Italy: although my context could be considered as supporting well-being of students and staff, ot is not always so: for example, pollution in the area where the school is set is a great issue, as is the lack of a school canteen or bar for both students and staff: these can be considered as Maslowian aspects of well-being that still need to be addressed, even in a developed territory. As far as Bloom is concerned, there is a growing number of migrant students whose personal experiences are not validated in the school as they ought to be, through plurilingual approaches, for example. So, in my opinion well-being should be the output of a synergic design by authorities, school management, staff and families to integrate values and cultures, to promote self-awareness and self-development, and to empower youths to get involved in their community.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The well-being of my school involves various factors and actors. It primarily involves the teacher who must feel safe, understood and respected by other teachers, parents and the entire community. Then, it includes the student who must be surrounded by a caring and reasonable family that encourages him to learn and succeed in the areas he is really good at, and tolerates less success in the areas he is not good at. Well-being certainly includes the material possibilities that are necessary for working in the classrooms of the 21st century. I also think that it is extremely important to change the curricula and adapt them to individuals and their interests so that the motivation to learn is not lost from an early age.</p><p>Well-being in my classroom certainly involves a wider circle than the classroom itself. It involves parents, teachers, the community, and everyone should be involved in building that program. They should decide on a few key topics and work on developing them, then gradually expand and adapt the contents</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I work in a school in the south of Belgium and I feel lucky.</p><p>Well-being at school starts with a nice environment to work in and the board's trust. Actually, my school is colourful and my headmastresses trust me completely in everything I want to do with my students. That's very important, I feel more relaxed. If I feel good, my students feel good as well because they can feel how I work (for and with them). </p><p>I feel respected too.</p><p>I always work with a positive mind, I value  communication a lot (between colleagues, students, all the staff working at school).</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I work in a middle school near Milan. </p><p>I think that it's not always easy to create and mantain a situation where students can feel good at school, because we have to face with many personal and social difficulties. </p><p><br/></p><p>In my opinion we first, as teachers, need  to feel good at school, otherwise we can not help our pupils. We can use the metaphor of the oxygen mask in the airplanes: in case of emergency you need to put it on first in order to be able to help others. In my experience, for example, I have found mindfulness and meditation really helpful for me (I do it at home but also together with my students at school) and sometimes, when I feel "out of order", I give me and my students some free time to relax, enjoy nature and don't do anything in particular.</p><p><br/></p><p>It is important to create a safe environment where our students are able to feel confident in asking questions, discussing, making mistakes (that are the basis for personal growth). I can make mistakes and they can too: this needs to be clear.</p><p><br/></p><p>I also like to leave them free to eat when they feel in need of eating and I recommend them to talk to me about their needs (for example if they need a break we can discuss and organise it together).</p><p><br/></p><p>They need to feel heard by us adults and by their peers and so it's important that they respect some basic rules (that we can share and discuss at the beginning of the school year) and I also need to give them time to express themselves and to confront with each other.</p><p><br/></p><p>It's important to discuss with them about learning objects, projects, activities and to involve them in the lessons planning. At the same time they should have the possibility to asses the work done together.</p><p><br/></p><p>I'm aware that there's so much more to say about the topic and I can't wait to discover it together with all of you!</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Well-being at achool means that the school environment allows me to develop my strengths and work on my weaknesses as a teacher without being scared or worried about the reactions or judgement of other colleagues or the school management. It means that I as a teacher am not overburdened with unimportant things, such as bureacracy, and can focus on building meaningful relationships with colleagues and students which then create a safe environment for learning and growing for all of the involved participants.</p><p><br/></p><p>If I wrote this definition again, I would also add the viewpoint of the school management, the students and their parents who are all part of the school environment and influence each other's well-being.</p><p><br/></p><p>Firstly, I need feedback from all of the participants so we can define the starting point. I believe preparing an action committee would be a great next step. I would include representatives from the teachers, the school management, students (older) and their parents (of younger students). On the basis of the feedback the committee would need tofind some common goals and then prepare a well-being plan accordingly.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I work as an English teacher in a secondary school in Brussels. We are a relatively small school of about 580 students aged 12-18. As teachers, we play a crucial role in nurturing the holistic development of our students. Maslow's hierarchy of needs highlights the importance of addressing physical, emotional, and social well-being, which contribute to students' overall success and happiness. On the physical tier we promote healthy eating habits and encourage regular physical activity through school sports, lunchtime breaks, and extracurricular activities. If I teach the same class for two consecutive periods, I always provide a 'movement snack' in between. For 3 to 4 minutes we loosen up our muscles to music and the students absolutely love it! On the socio-emotional level we try to create a safe and supportive school environment where students feel comfortable expressing their emotions and seeking help. Last year we did an eTwinning project in which we paid special attention to social-emotional learning (SEL): they focused on their emotions, discussed them among peers and developed skills like self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness and relationship skills. This year we look forward to focusing even more on students well-being in our project 'Your Mind Matters'. </p><p><br/></p><p>So to summarize, this may be our definition of well-being.</p><p>As a team we try to nurture the physical well-being of our pupils, we attempt to foster their emotional well-being en we seek to enhance their social well-being. Our reference framework is the result of bottom-up consultation and is supported by staff, students and parents.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Wellbeing in my classroom means that both my students and I feel relaxed and good about ourselves during the lessons in order to ask questions, to participate and to learn. Of course, the students and the teacher should also have some kind of mutual understanding and respect. And, we shouldn't forget that if the students feel appreciated in any classroom, they will definitely study more and take part in lessons with pleasure.</p><p><strong>Next steps</strong></p><p>I definitely have to think about my students' background - about their situation at home, with their health (what are usually do), if they are students with special needs in order to get good results (and of course mutual understanding!).</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I think wellbeing means that the students enjoy learning new things and improving themselves in a stres-free environment. As for me they should attend the classes at schools; not because they are supposed to do so,  because they love and enjoy the lessons at school. We, as teachers, should make them feel safe and happy and try to take part in sessions just because they want to do so. I definitely don't approve the situations that the students do something or raise their hands during the lesson just for the mark they may get from the teacher at the end of the term. I work in a state school in Mersin, a city in the south of Turkey and unfortunately in my school students express themselves or answer the questions only for the marks they will get which is not a proper way of learning. However; when they feel safe and secure and mentally well while they are learning something, then they may not fulfill their responsibilities to get high marks from the teacher, they may do it just because they are happy and want to do so.</p>]]></description>

I have about 6/7 years left...but I'm having fun and I love coming to challenge at school..."</p><p> Be happy and in good shape, play sports, laugh, change the codes and make your class flexible, not be afraid to test and change everything when the class weather is out of whack and when the school team is not more motivated..</p><p>I changed everything and everything is better today.. Erasmus also changed my life and brought a lot of happiness and motivation. Open to the world. </p><p>Feel good in your body and in your mind. Communicate and exchange with colleagues (teachers, principal and assistants) ; open the class to the outside world and integrate new partners through stimulating projects that speak to students and motivate them. Welcoming children by paying attention to each one and valuing them. Make the class welcoming and allow students to make it their own (cozy corners, independent workshops, centers, etc.). Set up activities and well-being times that provide concentration, stress management, relaxation according to the feelings of the class but also in a ritualized way to allow students to integrate regular habits of emotion management. When I build sessions, I integrate more concreteness, and I vary the use of postures or spaces (varied rooms available, outside the school and in the external environment depending on the projects). The change in posture brought me a lot of motivation and happiness, the students are also more joyful, motivated and invested, ask questions, get to work more quickly. They also have fewer comments with the all adults, including break times and common places. Sanctions and remediations are decreasing and disappearing. There is more respect. Learning is easier. Memorisation work is easier...everything improves. The class group is happy and always voluntary. Little by little the other teachers question their procedures and modify in turn tripartite relationships teacher students family. Climate of work and exchanges goes better and better and have favorable effets : happiness of coming to school and self-confidence to engage in any action and project with motivation and kindness for each of us.</p><p><strong><mark>Next step</mark></strong></p><p>1.Continue relaxation and well-being activities in all academic subjects.</p><p>2.Value the flexible class, the autonomy of students.</p><p>2.Develop co-teaching and continue the inclusion of special needs and their helpers in the classroom with all their differences.</p><p>3. Establish vertical relationships in the school (mutual aid, solidarity, sharing, emulation, security, tutoring)</p><p>4. Pursue level and school class projects and opening up abroad (partner classes, trips).</p><p>5. Bring all school partners and families into the loop to discuss, and together propose actions that promote positive behavior and make students active in their wellbeing.</p><p>6.Together, build, share, be happy and make it last.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Before reading the article I thought of well-being (for students) as 'absence of fear' meaning, if students have fears, they can't be well. Fear itself can be caused by a lot of things. In my school it's mostly fear from failing or to do something cringy in front of class. This is mostly connected to social and emotional well-being. </p><p><br/></p><p>My place in this is being a rolemodel for celebrating mistakes as chance to learn and to create a climate where everyone is accepted. </p><p><br/></p><p>For teachers well-being sprouds with good communication, a realistic workload and with structures where one can find help in situations that are too much to handle for oneself. </p><p><br/></p><p>For both groups having reliable partners is a good way to contain well-being.</p><p><br/></p><p>Our school motto even is 'feeling well and achieve'. So the ones coming up with this give well-being a role as frontrunner for achievements that come after and through the well-being of our students. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Well-being is a complicated term, the meaning of which depends on our own achievements, problems, wishes and goals.</p><p>I believe, that well-being lets us be as we are, be accepted, be tolerated. It means, that you are able to discuss, contribute, investigate, express your point of view and not to be criticised by your mistakes- the analysis of mistakes - yes, the critic - no.</p><p><br/></p><p>The philosophical question appears when we start thinking about the well-being: how many teachers have the feeling of well-being. To give the feeling of confidence, to teach somebody to be tolerant, to show how to collaborate, the teacher must have that crucial feelings of self-well-being.</p><p><br/></p><p>I would say that the psychological support to teachers, divers workshops, the possibility to increase the performance (not at weekends or between classes and tests) could lead to teachers' well-being which automatically leads to the well-being in a class.</p><p>If we talk about the well-being in a class, I believe the collaboration in a class contributes much: to see highschool students as junior partners.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>It may be a complex psycological state but, that can generally be understood as what pupils feel and how they act in the educational context.</p><p><br/></p><p>My school has stated a clear vision of this, let me share the link exactly about what we consider: Coexistence.</p><p><br/></p><p>In short for us it involves:</p><ul><li><p>Equity.</p></li><li><p>Innovation.</p></li><li><p>Inclusion. </p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p>One of the steps with pupils to take we think it will be restorative measures to mantain a positive atmosphere between feelings for example. For sure, this could be also taken among the entire educational community too (including families, teachers and children) and, there must be a protocol to carry it out. </p><p><br/></p><p>Teachers in my school centre are worried about coexistence and well-being.          <description><![CDATA[<p><br/></p><p>Wellbeing at school for my children is being confident, sure that they can always trust me and others teachers. The rest comes by itself. On the basis of mutual trust comes the cohesion of the children's group, mutual support in situations of need, collaborative learning and serenity and joy in all the activities. An environment that adapts to different situations and is always stimulating and facilitating is also very important. Each morning my children talk about themselves and about what they like but also about what makes them sad. We create a situation of sincere relationship where we feel free to share our emotions with the others.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Next Steps</strong></p><ul><li><p>I understand the need to share common lines of action in the school aimed at well-being and acceptance. I believe it is important to create time and space for discussion with teachers and share one's experiences to improve the school climate of well-being.</p></li><li><p>my school pays a lot of attention to hospitality and well-being both from a psychological point of view with the support of expert specialists, and also from a physical point of view by encouraging sporting activities.</p></li><li><p>The school must take care of the person in a global way, not just their skills. Offering a variety of experiences (musical, theatrical, sporting, scientific, artistic, linguistic, the discovery of one's own country, study support...) the school takes care of the total personality of the children and this makes them feel good about themselves and in society .</p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

Only on these bases teachers can do a quality job and provide students with what they need, create an atmosphere in which pupils are able to develop their potential.   </p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Next step</p><p>I woudn't to change the definition I gave, but I want to express my praise for the way the named school approached the topic of well-being: the way of organization, the involvement of all the teachers of the school in order to reach a common agreement and the way of working with which everyone agrees. Unfortunately, this is something that is missing in many schools where decisions are made top down, without the direct involvement of teachers - those who will implement the program on a daily basis. A lot of decisions are made without planning , and that cannot and should not be the way. I can't change much at the level of the school I work in at the moment, but I can within the class of which I am the class teacher. I encourage children to have an open dialogue, I want them to feel safe and comfortable so that they can express their opinions. I will introduce a worry-box to allow even the more shy and insecure children to express themselves. </p>]]></description>

Here the students could get different options and ideas to deal well with difficult situations. This could include situations such as bad grades, arguments with other children, family problems, feeling unwell, fear of the future and the like. Anything that negatively affects well-being. Children often still need ideas on how to act in bad situations. You could also set up a kind of help desk. I try to create a positive atmosphere of mutual trust where students feel safe and confident to express themselves, develop positive peer connections, and prosper in a productive learning environment. </p><p><strong>Next steps</strong>: </p><p>Since I work in an institution with a lot of staff members, communication and information dissemination seem to be a problem. So, getting staff members together to discuss well-being in a constructive and actionable manner might be the first step. Additionally, consulting experts and setting up an action committee that would develop strategies and protocols would be the next. Introducing these protocols not only to staff members but also to students would be inevitable. Lastly, it might also be a good idea to hire a counsellor who would offer support, develop related activities, and manage well-being-related issues. </p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

So, maybe, an action committee would be necessary to tailor and phase things. </p><p><br></p><p>Well being in the classroom means that everyone comes smiling, relaxed and confident that whatever happens they will not feel shamed or embarrassed and all individual potential would be cherished. Well being in school, that is between teachers/staff means respect, cooperation and understanding.
