Activity #2: Creating a class poem

Step 1: On a piece of paper, write on the first line “Water is…” (drawing is also okay)
Step 2: Fold the paper, pass it to another classmate, respond to “Water makes me feel…”
Step 3: repeat using different stems until paper is filled
Step 4: Students form pairs, have one piece of paper each and read all the entries aloud.
Step 5: Individual creation of a list poem, selecting and rearranging lines from the paper (resource: Joe Brainard’s I Remember)
(Optional) Step 6: read poems aloud to the class
