Even after the Chinese Civil War the U.S.A and China have a tense relationship. One reason for their tense relationship is their ideological views. The U.S.A feels like human rights are important while in China they feel it is not that important. Another, reason for this tense relationship is because of trade. The United States has been shifting towards an anti-globalization shift which may have prompt policies to try to clamp down on China's unfair trade policies by raising tariff barriers against Chinese products. Overall, while there is a competitive coexistence between these two countries due to being the largest economy in the world, both sides would nothing to gain by starting a war with each other. (China and the United States: The Evolution of a Relationship, Jussi Hankimaki, 2017)
