Millet has traveled all over the world after it was picked up by the British during their occupation of India in the 1800s. It was said it was one of the first crops to be globalized as it was found in parts of China, Africa, and India before AD. Now, there are newer variations on the crop thanks to genetic and artificial modification making the cereal more resistant to disease plus larger crop yields. A modern variant of the crop is found in South-Western Russia where it is used in porridge. The crop many be over-taken by Wheat in economic stressed areas one day, but it stands out on its own as Gluten-Free and until people are no longer allergic to the stuff Millet will be around.
