         <description><![CDATA[<div>Kids are pushed into overstimulating environments that don't match their personality types.  Ex. large, noisy cafeterias, loud classrooms, even lighting in classrooms.  Some classrooms can be overstimulating simply by having too many things on the walls.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It is fascinating that someone thought to measure the sensitivity of introverts using lemon juice. Introverts generated more saliva than extroverts. Looking at all senses, the nervous centers of introverts are more impacted by their surroundings.  I find this to be true.  I can't stand bright lights, loud noises, and strongly dislike going into large stores such as Walmart and grocery stores.  Large spaces are overstimulating and I literally shut down, turning into a zombie.  If this happens to me in a large store or mall, what is the impact on learners who are introverts?  How much can they possibly take in?  Why is school so bright and loud?  I am lucky to have a classroom in which I can control the lighting, using floor lamps instead of overhead lights.  Soft music plays in the background.  Salt lamps are placed around my room.  And the walls are not overdecorated.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sadly, the majority of my students cannot read this text.   However, there is an audio version on  soraapp.com (which is a digital library students in our district have access to).   I have been talking to my colleagues about this book but none have read it.  Therefore, it is unlikely that our students who are introverts will read it as there is no one to suggest it to them.<br><br>I think many students would find this information helpful.  And I wish that my colleagues would consider alternative teaching practices in their classrooms.  As an introvert with a concussion at the moment, everything is too bright, too loud, and too fast paced.  I look around and think,  "I would not want to be a student in this building."</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This book provides plenty of examples in which students self advocate for themselves.<br><br>What I see, however, are students who are introverts hiding and shut down in their core classrooms.  20% of our student population includes students with disabilities.  Although many are outspoken in small group settings, when I push into their classrooms, I see most have their heads down, are disengaged, silent, afraid of speaking, and shut down.  Administration needs to read this book.  We have an inclusion based model in our school in which students with disabilities sit passively in many classrooms, exposed to the curriculum because that is the expectation set for them.  But where is the real learning?<br><br>The term "cultural responsiveness" is now also being thrown at us.  If we are to be "culturally responsive," then it seems that personality types must also be included. </div>]]></description>
