I don't consider him selfish because that is a gift. He can't control it and the reason why people are saying Asher is selfish is because Asher isn't like any other normal people. Only because he is different, we can't call him selfish. It was right for his parents to choose not to go to Vienna because it can't always be the parents who are bossing around the kids. Then what is the kid? they need to listen to the kid and respect him also. The way his parents are treating Asher is very rude and disrespectful as a parent. They are basically ruining the kid by saying 'just be normal'. Asher has been very respectful to his parents and he always said 'yes, mama' or 'yes, papa.' Asher had enough of all those and he needs to live. The other reason why Asher is not selfish is because Asher has been respectful. Just because he rebelled once, doesn't make him selfish. It is Asher's parents who are selfish, because they want their child to be like what they want him to be. They want to 'make' a child instead of accepting how he is like. They never even tried to understand Asher. They avoided him just because he is different thant he kids on his age. And when Asher goes to Vienna, he won't have the uncle to talk to. Asher is only 10 years old and he still need the protection from his parents, but his behavior of Vienna make his parents to be in trouble.
Moving to Vienna does not deal anything with Asher, but his parents do. Asher's father has important duty in Vienna so that he must to go. But Asher does not have any problem even he moves to Vienna, such as drawing. He is just trying to be selfish and being rebel because he wants to keep drawing. He also caused many troubles to not go tp Vienna, from here we could see that he is being selfish.

Every kid needs to listen to his parents for they are their life support. It's not like Asher is the only boy who has a hard life. Even if Asher said his life is hard, his parents life is hard as well. They need to help people and help their own troublesome child who can't control his own gift. Furthermore if he actually go to Vienna he could learn new stuff, be more open minded, and of course he could also draw things there. Going to Vienna might also be a good thing (like a getaway) for his life it's like escaping from the harsh life there. Besides Asher kind of accepted the fact that they are going to Vienna. The parents made the right decision because if Asher was a normal kid , it's reasonable for the parents to still drag the kid to Vienna. However, Asher is a different kind of child. He is a sensitive child even at a young age. By forcing him or giving too much pressure to Asher, it can antagonize the child.
