-African cultures believes that when there is sickness that someone is "living a little" meaning their level of life is very low. They also believe that illness and death result from some outside agent such as a person, thing, or circumstance that weakens people because the agent contains and greater life force.
-As far as death, they perceive it as the beginning of the communication between the visible and the invisible worlds. Their goal is to become an ancestor after death which explains their very detailed ceremony for death. Includes, numerous religious ceremonies and if not done, the dead person may become a wandering ghost, unable to "live" properly after death.

As far as expression of grief is a common and accepted practice. Rituals and practices facilitate the grief process as death and dying are prevalent parts of their culture. Crying and wailing are often expressed and seen as a sign of respect and love. However, its frowned upon for men to show grief such as crying and wailing and instead are expected to grieve in a more reserved manner.
-The Hispanic culture tends to having the longest life expectancy. Culturally, latinos as a group are strongly tired to their families and place a high value on intergenerational bonds.

-Middle Eastern culture was taught from an early age to respect and care for their parents far into their elder years. The concept of placing "burdensome" parents into nursing homes for strangers to care for violates family values. Their children were raised to care for one and another and most importantly, care for older adults which is something very important to their culture.
-As far as death goes, it different per the religion. Overall, families are open in showing emotion openly-crying, screaming and sometimes slapping their faces. Most religions are united during death, sharing prayer, and food.

The Japanese culture values the elderly. Appreciation for elders has been ingrained in families and their children, making Japan one of the most kind places in the world for seniors. Many Japanese families have several generations living under one roof. This arrangement is believed to be one of the many reasons the elderly in Japan live longer than any other population. In fact, there are more elderly citizens than young people in Japan as the population is comprised of more people over the age of 65 than any other group, according to the Administration on Aging.
Japanese views on death: Death is seen as liberation and acceptance is more important than expressing oneself. The dead are remembered during a three-day holiday in August, Obon, when the spirits of ancestors are believed to return to the family home, graves are cleaned and fires lit. This celebration of the dead is common in cultures where ancestor worship is practiced. In these cultures, life is seen as cyclical rather than linear and the dead are believed to have powers over the living, such as the ability to bless or curse.
