Well, good for you! Usually when people get new dogs, they're puppies!!!! Cute squirming little bundles of energy! When you get a newborn puppy, here are some do's and don'ts: 
1. Don't give them a bath as soon as you arrive at your house! This is really important! Even if they are really stinky! Puppies are really fragile. If you give them a bath as soon as you get home it could harm them. Consult the vet for extra information on how long you should wait because it really depends on what it's age is.
2. Don't pick it up that much. Even if you are an adult and really careful, puppies are fragile, even the slightest mistake can really hurt them so only pick them up when it is necessary.
3. Socialize your dog after it's vaccinated. Don't keep your dog cooped up inside. Bichons are really social creatures. Let your puppy meet up with other people and animals to get them used to being around strangers.
4. Smell. I know it sounds weird, but its true! Your puppy needs to get used to your smell and the smell of others. When your puppy arrives and you place it in it's cage to sleep, hang a sock on the wall of the cage. This way your puppy will get used to your smell and know it is safe with you.
5. Food. puppies can't eat just any food. First of all, do not feed your puppy human food, no matter how much it begs. Human food is bad for them. Second of all, only feed your puppy dog food for puppies that the vet says is okay. And feed them only two or three times a day.
6.Potty training. You don't want your dog peeing and pooping all over the place. What I did was that I trained my dog, Molly, with pads first. Do Not give your dog treats for peeing in the right place. It will start to pee only a bit at a time to get more treats. Instead, praise your puppy. If you want to keep your dog in pads, that's fine. But, if you want to train your dog to go outside, here's what you should do. First take your dog out multiple times out a day. It's okay to give your dog treats in this case. Of course there will be a few accidents along the way, but this is part of the process. When this happens, do not get mad, just tell your dog sternly that this is not okay. Soon your dog will know were to do its thing, and after you can work on slowly decreasing the number of times you have to go out with your puppy. There will be more accidents. Consult a vetrinarian about how long you can leave your dog alone.
7. Play time! Like I said before, bichons are very social. They need at least half an hour of care, play, and your attention a day! I know it sounds like alot but, it's what is necessary to keep your dog happy and healthy!

If your dog is a picky eater, put some wet dog food in the mix, it might help! Now it's the same thing for treats, Get them approved by an expert before feeding it to your dog. There are food and treats that are for specific dog breeds and sizes only, so make sure you check before purchasing something. Lastly, make sure your dog is happy with the food and it is not causing health problems. That's all for now. They are also very affectionate towards their owners. They are ideal pets if you live in an apartment, because they are very quiet and have low energy.

Now here are some cons. A bichon's fur needs lots of care and attention, especially if you'll be washing it yourself. And they are hard to keep clean because their fur is white.

So lets train! Here are some things you might need:

-Tempting treats
- Cool toys 
- Patience
-A spray bottle filled with water 
-A Tin can filled with marbles or rocks
-keys
-Clicker
-Praise

Please make sure you have these thing before you start training. Lets start with barking. 1. When someone rings the doorbell or knocks on the door your dog will probably bark. When this happens, use the spray bottle to spray your dog while it isn't looking, your dog will probably stop barking and try to figure out were the water came from, if it doesn't bark for three seconds or more, praise your dog and give it a treat. If it barks tell it this is not okay. you can also do this with the keys and the can, it works the same way. Each time your dog does good, gradually increase the number of seconds until it learns. 2. Fetch, a dog's favorite game. But isn't it frustrating how they just won't let go?! When you throw your dog the toy and it comes back with it, tell it to drop it with your treat in hand, point down or pat the ground. If your dog does as told praise it and reward it with treats. repeat this as many times as necessary until your dog starts obeying. 3. Tricks are fun to do with your dog, but there are many tricks in the world, so i'll say the base method. Treat in hand, while you say the trick make sure to make hand motions for this is easier to remember than words. Repeat every day, and when your dog does good reward it with treats and praise. ( Clicker can be used as a replacement for all things listed in this post).
