According to Mettetal (2002), classroom action research is a method for discovering what works best in your classroom to improve student learning. CAR is at the center of a continuum from personal reflection to formal educational research. CAR is systematic and data-driven rather than personally reflective, but it is more informal and personal than formal educational research. In CAR, teachers focus their attention on a problem or question related to their classroom. For example, does role-playing help students understand course concepts more fully than did the teaching method? Which concept confuses students the most?.
The goal of CAR is to improve your own teaching in your own classroom (or your department or school (Mettetal, 2002). Classroom action research begins with one or more questions about classroom experiences, problems, or challenges. It is a reflective process that helps teachers to explore and examine aspects of teaching and learning and to take action to change and improve. Classroom action research is a method used by teachers to reflect on and improve their teaching practices by systematically investigating and implementing changes in the classroom setting.

Conducting Classroom Action Research (CAR) involves a systematic and cyclical process that allows educators to investigate and improve their teaching practices in the classroom.

According to the British Council, there are several steps to conduct a CAR:
1. Reflect
2. Explore
3. Plan
4. Research
Carry out the action research using your chosen method. Some ideas are:
• Peer observation
• Teacher diary
• Learner feedback
• Lesson evaluation
• Recording lessons
• Reflecting on learners’ work
• Surveys
5.
