Treatment of women

I am interested in exploring the treatment of women in society and in the home. I recently watched a TED talk about an all-girls school in Afghanistan that had to relocate to Rwanda because girls are not allowed to attend school past 6th grade. This saddened me and it made me wonder why we still have societies that would limit another human being's potential simply because of her gender.

Vignettes

I would like to try using vignettes and short anecdotes in my story. I like the way Gabriel Garcia Marquez develops the narration in One Hundred Years of Solitude as a series of anecdotes about the pivotal moments in the lives of the Buendias and the town of Macondo.

To be conscious is to be aware of ones surroundings ,but i would like to explore the internal conflict of being conscious of your surroundings and being hyper focused and aware of your own existence, being that it closely relates to my form of thinking. It would be challenging to me as a writer to get others to understand and comprehend in away where others that think like me can relate and find comfort while at the same time challenging the ones who dont to do so.

I am interested in exploring grieve and lost on my writing, I'd like to see the interesting possibilities that I could use in a writing where grieve is a theme. I saw as an example who it was used in the character Snape from Harry Potter, where we see a character that his actions are based on his grieve.
-Daniel Mendez
