It’s free and open source, meaning it’s more accessible to a wider audience. It says that it can collect, organise, cite and share research and references, as well as help collaborate with colleagues on work and sync up to other work.

Zotero has reviewed fairly positively, with sites like g2 and TrustRadius rating it as high as 4.5 stars each. It’s existed since 2006 and will most likely be useful going into the future.
