The most powerful stanza, in my opinion, is the 3rd stanza. This is because it starts off with a very gory scene, which uses a lot of imagery and euphemism. But, what separates it from the other stanzas is that it contains the reason why the author wrote the poem, that reason being to prove that the phrase, "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" is a lie.

In my opinion, the most powerful stanza is the second one, it displays the true horror of experiencing a war in real time watching such horrible and scarring moments right in front you happen, people dying, drowning, loosing their lives, it truly give the reader a visualization of not just the aftermath of the wart, but the gruesome things seen during it.

The strongest stanza in Dulce Et Decorum Est is the second stanza because it creates a frantic tone with the man shouting 'GAS!' and words like 'ecstasy' or 'drowing'. It really brings to life the thought of how someone can go out in an instant.
