As it states, "Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon" Meaning, that if the lottery was in fact successful, they all believed that they would have a great feast.

The difference between the Hunger Games and The Lottery is that they once again serve different purposes for their towns betterment. In the Hunger Games, they use this tradition to minimize or diminish revolting of the town. In addition to that, they use this to show their towns power over their people.

While both writings have differences, one of the differences about their rituals is that the Lottery's purpose is to assure a good harvest for the town. This tradition shows the town that tradition is what it is. It doesn't change no matter the circumstances.

Both texts have similarities when it comes to the two pieces of literature. I believe that the people of both towns are a little aware that their rituals are wrong. Although, no one speaks up to their leaders until they are the chosen ones. For example, Tessie in the Lottery never once said anything about her opinion about the Lottery. Although, when she got the black dot, she had quite a few words to say about it. Also, in The Hunger Games, Katniss didn't stand up for anyone in the past until someone innocent and close to her got chosen to battle until death.
