Democrats are calling for a background check on Kavanaugh for sexual assault accusations from over 30 years ago, while they overlooked Ellison bribing for his own gain. Lilly Reynolds 1A- Well a "double standard" is principle which is unfairly applied in different ways to different people or groups, so I do believe a "double standard" was in place. In this case, democrats put a majority of the attention to Kavanaugh's background being reopened even though the federal government already released the statement that the allegations do not involve any potential federal crime. The democrats however demanded his background check to be reopened also partially because he is a republican. And although his case is closed there is nothing that stops the FBI from opening and adding to it. Even though he had already previously gone through several background checks they still couldn't find Fords allegations and ended up closing his background check over "nothing". However, when a women accused Mr. Ellison, a democratic rep., of abuse , the democrats didn't believe her story. She had hospital notes yet no investigative action was taken on the guy. The "double standard was taken on the two different parties just to make their party seem better and get more people into the house.

I think there is definitely a double standard occurring here. I think that in any senario of domestic abuse it should be treated equally. While Ellison accusations have actual evidence behind it, he was neither condemned or at least halted in the election because of this. The DNC even went as far to cover up the allegation as best as they could. On the other hand, Kavanaugh has only word of mouth against him, and yet the whole Democratic party has jumped behind the allegation and want him to be investigated. It's really all hypocritical.

If they don't meet the standards on the test the litmus test can be used to confirm or reject court justice. They underwent with protests from the Democratic committee and the members in the public seating of the senate Judiciary committee hearing room. So also why I believe there is a Double Standard is because Brett as of right now is in the hot seat and being held there for all of the things he has done, while Keith is being let free for his similar allegations to Brett. Once the committee reports out the nomination, it's put in front of the whole senate for there final consideration of what goes down.

I do believe that there is a double standard being used to vet Kavanaugh, because he is being backed by republicans to try to get him sworn in as a Supreme Justice and even the FBI has come out to say the whatever might be going on involving this situation that it does not show any federal crimes being committed, Democrats believe that they want the FBI to reopen Kavanaugh's background check to try to get him to be at the bad side of things but republicans remain affirm that this case is closed. Compare that to Keith Ellison, the same thing is essentially happening here because the DNC pretty much treated this lightly and he won the Democratic primaries in Minnesota. His accuser has come out and said that this is just like how the FBI is treating Christine Ford's case and how it eventually got closed. When the DNC heard of Ford's allegation, they almost immediately backed her but this instance sounded very sketchy so they do not know how to treat this. This becomes two instances of sort of favoritism.
