You don't just get to go right in there you have to take lots of test. It was for immigrants. And now is a very interesting museum lots of people did not make it through and had to stay in their homeland. LOts of these people were poor. They wanted to immigrate for many reasons some of them were there were lots of natural disasters and lots of them were poor and needed food. Some people were took care of better because they had showers and more luxury stuff. Some of them tried sneak by putting the words on their arms. Their were lots of nurses because getting sick back then was easy to catch because they didn't have very good medicine. There was also angel island that was in california. If you didn't make it through you would have to go back on along boat ride. Lots of people were foreign because they were from a different country they had lots of translators.You also have to study what its like and what your in for because getting past these test are very hard and your lucky if you get through. They would mark you either your going back to your country or your going to America, if you have medical problems, illnesses, or hurt your out of their. You also have to wait in lines, you could be in line for a day. It is very crowded.
