The character I chose to identify their characteristics is Lucy Miles. Lucy is one of the main characters of this novel, and out of all the personalities, she has the one most similar to mine, which is my reason for picking her. Lucy is a very sympathetic girl who worries and deeply cares about her family and the ones around her. She doesn't jump to conclusions but rather takes a careful and reasonable approach to her problems. Throughout the story, she never treated anyone differently because of their social status and never believed she was better than anyone else because she came from a wealthy family.

Songs I feel match the tone and mood of the novel are instrumental ones. There is enough dialogue in this story for me to imagine a song with more words. Probably ones that are old fashion show suspense and mystery.

This story is written from the perspective of three characters, Isabella James, Lucy Miles, and Abby O'Rourke. The book starts, with our first character, Isabella James. She is a teenage girl who comes from a poor, third-class family. In our first chapter, Isabella's parents pull her out of the house. She doesn't know that her parents used almost all the money they had to buy her a third-class ticket on the Titanic to send her away to New York for a better life. She was an unwilling passenger and did not want to leave her family alone, knowing that her parents were sick. The second perspective is from Lucy Miles. She is a teenage girl who comes from a wealthy family. In the chapter, we find Lucy looking over and admiring the Titanic, as she has a first-class ticket on the biggest ship ever built. She travels with her mother, father, and maid, Abby O'Rourke. The reader can assume that Lucy's father is a very stubborn, serious man who takes no interest in his daughter. Our next and final perspective is Abby O'Rourke. She is a teenage girl from a poor, struggling family and is the maid of the Miles family. Abby's working in the place of her deceased mother to support her younger brother and herself. The Miles family wonders why Abby has accepted their offer to accompany them on their travels to New York if Mr. Miles refuses to pay for a ticket for her brother as well. In the chapter, it is revealed that Abby is very anxious about finding a yellow suitcase, and inside is her little brother curled in a ball, illegally entering the Titanic. Now, the fact that they could get in really big trouble with the Miles family and the police if she is found snuggling a person on the ship and that suitcases can be very easily lost when boarding such a big ship worries her. When Isabella James was about to board the ship, her parents gave her a letter to open when she got to New York. Although Isabella did not listen, she opened it anyway. Inside the letter, she found out that her parents were not her biological parents, and her real father was also traveling to New York on the same ship as her, along with the birth certificate, and she was determined to find her real parents. Lucy Miles is planning to enjoy her time on the Titanic. She is fascinated and excited about the ship. However, she envies the other girls her age hanging out in groups while she stays with her mother out of guilt, as she appears to be ill. Now Abby has hidden her younger brother inside of her shared cabin, tucked away in the bunk beds, and Abby finds out that her brother is no longer in her room. So she leaves to go look for him, and then she encounters Lucy. Lucy then hands her the green coat to store in their suite and agrees to meet up with her after Abby finishes her errands. Even though losing that green coat could cost her her job, she leaves it on a chair, knowing that finding her brother before Mr. Miles recognizes him is her biggest priority. Isabella's first move to find her father is sneaking out of the third-class section of the boat. She manages to get past the guard but then realizes even her best dress won't fit in with the first-class passengers, and she would easily get noticed. She happens to find an expensive green coat left unattended, which is also the green coat that belonged to Lucy and was left behind by Abby. She takes it and continues her search for her father. As Lucy walks through the boat, she notices a girl with a green coat identical to hers and later realizes it's hers. She notices the girl acting strangely, and she catches a glimpse of her face. They made eye contact, and both felt a jolt of electricity course through their bodies. But Isabella quickly ran away. Lucy then finds Abby, and Abby has still not finished the errands she told Lucy she had to do. Abby was honest with the reason why she was distracted and had lost her coat, telling her about sneaking her brother aboard and then losing him, expecting to be fired on the spot. However, Lucy understood Abby and decided to help her go on the search for her little brother, as well as work together to find the green coat. As they go on their search, Isabella is still in the first-class lounge looking for her father. She hears someone say her father's name and looks at his face, it all clicked to her that this was her real father. She decided to confront him another day, since it was getting late, and headed back to her cabin. Lucy and Abby found her little brother after a long search in one of the maintenance rooms with Abby's love interest in the story. The next day, Abby and Lucy were still trying to find the girl with her green wool coat, and the only place they hadn't searched, was the third-class floor. Isabella was having more trouble finding a way to distract the guard and get to the top floors. The three girls encountered each other, and Lucy being a first-class passenger, recognized her, and claimed that Isabella was with Lucy so he'd let her go. They met again and felt the same spark they had before. Isabella explained her situation and they both realized they shared the same father, and it explains the spark they felt. They all decided to confront Mr. Miles, and Lucy found out her father had been purposely drugging her mother by telling her the pills and liquid he makes her drink every day were medicine, and that her mother was never ill. She also finds out he had planned to sell Abby's younger brother to a workshop camp and to leave her stranded once they arrived and New York. When Isabella confronts Mr and Mrs. Miles, Mrs. Miles is filled with joy and automatically recognizes her, and Mr. Miles is in denial and chooses to ignore them. After they all confront Mr. Miles, they leave reunited since he wouldn't accept what has come to him. And they feel the boat shake. Crew members tell passengers not to worry and to continue with their evenings. And people start running, the boat is sinking.

This quote tells me how fondly Isabella thought of her father, just in the same way I do mine.

A shiver ran down Lucy's spine and she stared straight ahead. "Yes," she thought. The lights of the city and noise of the crowd sparked something inside her. A future was waiting there for her ... for them. She stood a little taller. Her uncle was somewhere in the crowd. Her future was somewhere in that city. Lucy looked at her friends and family lined up along the rail. She took Isabella's hand and squeezed it tight, sharing a look with her sister. Page 254

On a scale of 1-5, I vote this book a 4. This book, has a very interesting and consistent plot, considering that it includes the point of view of three different characters. Although it was very intriguing and had a lot of mystery factors, I personally, was expecting more heartbreak towards the end of the book. This is a Titanic story, and everyone knows that the ship had a sad ending, but, in this book, all the main characters survive. I was expecting the love interest to die, and I think I would have felt more emotion in the end.
