Fairytale book: The Kindness Fairy by Echo Morgan. The kindness fairy and her friends spread kindness all throughout their community in this book. To build vocabulary, I will have the students repeat new words and have them guess what they mean. This connects to the reading rope because it will help build their vocabulary.

Fairytale Book: How Kind by Mary Murphy. It is a story about a hen who gives an unexpected egg to a pig, which sparks a chain reaction of kindness. I will have the kids put different words on signs so while I ready the book, every time they hear it they can put the sign up. This helps the students with word recognition.

Fairytale Book: The Nice Book by David Ezra Stein. The books uses animals to teach students how to show they care and how to be kind. I will have them raise their hand anytime they hear a word they are unfamiliar with and I will see if any of the other students knows what it means. This will help the students with word recognition.

Picture book: Llama Llama Time to Share by Anna DewDney. This book is about a llama who learns how to share and the importance of it. During this book, we are gonna play a rhyming game by picking words and the children have to figure out what else rhymes with it. This reinforces phonics and decoding.

Nonfiction Book: What Does it Mean to be Kind by Rana Diorio. A girl is kind to a new student and the kindness spreads throughout the community. We are going to read the book to build knowledge on real experiences and it will show them to be kind to new students. This will help children learn background knowledge.

Fairytale Book: Kindness Makes us Strong by Sophie Beer. This book shows the importance of kindness in different areas such as a playground or lunchtime. I am going to have them identify other places they can be kind and as a class we are gonna make a list together. This will teach the students the importance of being kind in many different places.

Picture book: Kindness is my Superpower by Alicia Ortego. This book is about a boy who was mean but is taught the importance of kindness and continues to be kind by doing different things throughout the day. The students will answer some questions about the book and how they have shown or could show kindness. This teaches the importance of being kind and teaches different ways to be kind.

Interactive book: Dolly's Kindness Journey by Melissa Eastin. Dolly sets off on an adventure to help others by being kind and she finds a map that takes her to different scenarios where she has to decide how to show her kindness. The book encourages readers to actively participate by deciding how Dolly should respond to different situations. This promotes kindness and critical thinking.
