         <description><![CDATA[<p>Pearl Harbor had a lot of natural resources that Japan wanted. It would also expand their Pacific territory. So on, Japan assaults U.S's naval base by air and by surprise. Their bombs and planes killed 2,348 U.S. men, and destroyed/damaged 19 U.S. ships. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Adolf Hitler targeted the next attack on Stalingrad since it was specially named after Stalin. It was his surprise attack that failed, and he could pursue no further into the Soviet Union. This is significant because of the fact that USSR was able to win despite the heavy struggle. 1.1 million of Soviet Union soldiers were killed. 850,000 German soldiers were killed. </p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Also known as the Normandy Invasion; Britain and the U.S. land in Normandy, France upon the beaches. This invasion included land/sea/air craft. Allied powers win, taking back a part of France that was controlled by Germany. 4,000 Allied troops were killed, but their victory soon led to Germany's unconditional surrender.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Battle of Iwo Jima - February 19, 1945</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Iwo Jima was an important island of Japan, and so it became an important target for U.S.'s island-hopping tactic. This was the one island that Japan fought to the death for, determined to win. Japan suffers about 21,000 losses from the invasion, as it led to a victory for America. Because of the amount of losses and determination, this was also considered the bloodiest battle of WW2 for marines.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Two Atomic Bombs Dropped in Japan - August 6, 1945</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>2 atomic bombs by the U.S., named Fat Man and Little Boy were dropped on two areas of Japan. It was the first time that atomic bombs were used, killing more than 200,000 people in Japan. They were mostly citizens. The cities became unrecognizable. Because of this bombing, Japan immediately surrenders, and the Soviet Union felt intimidated. Though today, it is still debated whether these two bombs were necessary or not, because of how horrific it was.</p>]]></description>
