Her mother and doctor suggested her to try the Support Group. Hazel didn't like the group, but went there so as not to disappoint her parents. Once there came a guy named Augustus Waters, who caught her attention by "being hot" and starring at her. Coming to the airport Hazel was feeling nervous and uncomfortable because she knew that everyone is going to stare at her and the Phillip. They both felt very addicted to each other at some point. Hazel let him take her arm while she was listening to Gus' "truth" about his ex. It was a rough story about a girl who completely lost her mind because of disease. Gus couldn't break up with her out of pity. Their evening ended with Gus telling Hazel that he wouldn't mind if she broke his heart.
