This way, students are able to utilize the most of their time by working with peers that are not only at the same level of them, but practicing these strategies in the same way. I will focus all my grouping on where students are at, so they are always grouped with peers at a similar level to them. I will accomplish this through consistent observation and assessments during small group and whole class instruction. Students will be placed in small groups not only based on reading level but also according to which skills they need more assistance with. For new skills and skills that students need extra support with, I will provide them with explicit teacher lead instruction. I would like to start off by giving a whole class instruction in a new strategy or topic. The students will then be put in small groups, and work with peers to better understand the new strategy. While these small groups are going on, I will work with the students who need extra support to give more clear and direct instructions. The students and I will continue to work on the new strategies. By allowing differentiated instruction into the classroom it gives teachers the opportunity to observe and assess the students.
