The primary aim for the organisation, Hilton Hotels, is to make a profit therefore this gives reason for their mass development.

They aim to make money and beat competitors therefore a lot of thought goes into prices for the specific product they offer. They have to compete with other hotels in destinations such as Dubai and London.

To make a profit the prices need to be high yet suitable for the product/service people are buying. The case study, Hilton Hotels, is an upper market organisation therefore they market towards people with the disposable income which they would need to be customers. The product they offer is suitable for the money which people will pay and the market they advertise to will allow them to keep up with the competition as well as make a profit.

As stated on the website, Hilton Hotels vision is:

"to fill the earth with light and warmth of hospitality"

This exemplifies that the focus is to provide the public with a good service as well as make a profit. This is needed for the organisation because they need to ensure that their product/service which they provide is appealing to the customers; without an aim like this, people will be lead to the conclusion that they aren't going to provide a good service therefore people won't be interested in spending money with the organisation.

This organisation is privately funded therefore is not given help from the government.

The hotels develop in order to increase the expansion of the business in order to increase their opportunity for profit. This means that the more hotels they have in different countries, the more customers they will appeal to and they will also be able to gain returning customers who may visit numerous branches.

Hotels will have numerous hotels in the same country, for instance in Dubai there is 16 hotels all of the Hilton brand therefore the market which they appeal to is wider because people can travel almost anywhere in Dubai and still be able to stay in a Hilton Hotel.

The organisation; Hilton Worldwide, focuses on branching out to developing countries and expanding on the 4,200 hotels they already own around the World. This allows them to make more money because the existing hotels are clearly successful because they are still in existence whereas if they weren't adding to the profit of the organisation as a whole they would be shut down.

The first ever Hilton Hotel was built in Texas and the development began in this state. Mr Hilton then developed to NYC by taking over Roosevelt and Plaza hotels. The hotels began to expand internationally with the first international hotel being opened in Puerto Rico. Istanbul was where the next Hilton development took place therefore developing and preparing Turkey for tourism.

Most development from this organisation was buying out hotels in destinations and rejuvenating them with their branded image. This sometimes caused a negative impact on local business in the state or city because local hotels were bought out by Hilton Worldwide therefore making them lose business.

The role which the organisation plays in developing countries is that they offer them the named brand of hotel which attracts many tourists to the destination. In the early stages, this meant business was welcomed for many local businesses because an all-inclusive holiday wasn't yet discovered. Through helping countries develop their tourism levels, they allowed a lot more benefits to the local people because it meant that money was spent to improve facilities and people were gaining customers.

As Hilton Hotels is such a Worldwide organisation, not much information is broad-cast about their partnerships with other sector organisations. Many organisations who are as popular as the Hilton's will have there own mini organisations for everything such as, the laundry and hospitality needs.

Although, hotels will work in corporation with public sector organisations such as laundry organisations and spa treatments etc. This would cause the multiplier effect to happen but only with local hotel developers. Considering this, hotel developers are developing hotels therefore they are profit making big branded hotels so will mostly have their own organisations for most of the amenities.

- local transport

- local communities

As Hilton Worldwide is a profit making company, they aren't worried about the destruction they can have on a location which they develop in yet the locals will usually have something to say about it.

Before all building constructions, planning permission is needed therefore giving an opportunity for locals to oppose to the developing hotel.

Example ~ Bournemouth Hilton Hotel (see article below) The construction of the Hilton Hotel in Bournemouth is said to take around a year therefore locals are arguing that this isn't what the locals or the tourists want to see when they visit the seaside town.

Big organisations such as Hilton, will always be able to win a conflict with the locals because they can have many benefits as well as drawbacks, when marketing to the Mayor / President of the city/state they will highlight the positives. Especially in the current financial market where most towns/cities wish to make more money therefore would wish to bring in as much tourism as they can.
