I would like to be the main character of the "Sarıkız Legend" which belongs to Balıkesir, a city located in the West of Turkey. Sarıkız is a county girl and a goose shepherd. The villagers throw dirt at Sarıkız by telling that she is flirting with a man. Her father puts Sarıkız upside of a hill and leaves her to die. After some months, her father reagrets of his action and learns the truth that Sarıkız only tried to help a poor man, but he cant find Sarıkız. After a year, some villagers say that they see Sarıkız upside the hill, so her father immediately go there. The father find his daughter and Sarıkız gives water for her old father who is tired for walking hours. Her father tells that they cant find any water in this hill, but Sarıkız's hands grow longer and she can take water from the Aegean sea. Yes, I think. For example, love, war, beliefs in holy things or Gods, revenge, justice are main and common international features in myths.
Do you think that myths and legends have an effect in controlling our actions and everyday practices?
No, I dont. They are in the past, so they dont control our actions anymore. Rather than myths, we have more powerful controlling agencies like technology, mobile phones, etc.
