It has been my dream for a long time - especially after witnessing my seniors succeed in the team. They were the very first people I met in University. They were so welcoming. Most of all, they were the people that brought the best out of me. Not only did they challenge me, but we also faced challenges together. We would spend hours talking about the possible solutions to climate change. When we saw the opportunity to write a policy paper about it, my friends and I decided to join. We participated as two teams. 

In the end, we bagged the awards. I am so proud of my friends - especially when I think about the effort we put in our work. We are truly Lasallians pursuing excellence. Most of all, we are employing our learnings to create a more sustainable world. Since my friends and I had so much time in our hands during COVID, we decided to sign up for a data science short course with Professor Widom. 

After a few weeks, I was more confident working with data. It was able to put what I learned into practice. I am very thankful to my friends for convincing me to do this. Last term, my friends and I were able to accomplish our thesis entitled, "It Runs in the Family: A Study on Intergenerational Occupational Mobility". Honestly, I consider this as one of the greatest challenges in my life for three reasons. Firstly, the study was difficult to pull off because our country did not meet the data requirements for the model. Secondly, I was responsible for the data collection and processing - even though econometrics is a weakness of mine.  Lastly, Dr. Bombit was in our panel. 

Thanks to my groupmates and mentors (especially Dr. Dacuycuy), we were able to accomplish the paper. My thesis experience became my greatest achievement. We were able to unravel patterns that contribute to the persistence of poverty. Also, it was even nominated for the best thesis award. It was an enriching experience. Not only was I finally able to connect with the members of the School of Economics, I got the opportunity to collaborate with professionals for this event. The theme of this event was to celebrate women in male dominated industries.

To be honest, it was an eye opening experience. Turns out, gender inequality in the Philippines isn't as bad as the ones seen in other countries. I met so many accomplished women from this event. They kept mentioning how their journey up the corporate ladder was not hindered by their gender. Thanks to EconOrg, I had a platform to share this. During my third year, I joined the batch government as an executive for the marketing and creatives department. Honestly, I just wanted an outlet for creativity. For me, this was a learning experience. 

I've been so used to creating art for myself. I did not have to deal with criticism and revisions. However, in EXCEL2021, I experienced this. At first, it was hard to deal with, but I soon learned that it is part of the process. In the end, my outputs never looked better and I appreciate those that helped me create it with their inputs. For our NSTP, we held a sports clinic for the kids in the barangay. To be honest, I was not that excited about it. Firstly, I just came from an injury. I wasn't sure if I can perform at a highest level. Also, I am not that fond of kids. However, within hours, I found myself having fun.

Despite our huge age gap, I was able to connect with the kids through a common interest - which is sports. We were able to bond through football. It was an honor and a privilege to teach these kids. This is actually my second time getting ACL. Honestly, it was really frustrating. This is the worst injury an athlete could ever get because the recovery time is long and tedious. I did not want to go through the same thing again. However, I decided to push through with it again. I can't see myself not being active.
