The Millerite Movement in the 19th century, led by William Miller, predicted that Christ would return to Earth on October 22, 1844.

Miller and more than 100,000 of his followers, known as Millerites, were convinced they were living in the final days before the Second Coming. As the predicted date approached, many Millerites sold their possessions, left their jobs, and gathered in anticipation of the apocalypse.

As the anticipated time passed and Christ did not return, the crowds grew anxious and eventually dispersed in disappointment. This event became known as "The Great Disappointment."
