From the beginning she was a newborn baby in a seventeen year old body. Jenna learned how to be her age again and make new friends. She spiritually changed by learning how to be a new person and finding her inner-self. As a result Jenna just grew each day with her self and others. I think what Jenna is trying to show her parents will make a good impact and not a bad one. Even though she has to do some things they won't like she knows deep down it's the right thing to do for herself. Sometimes you have to do what makes you happy not everyone else and that is what Jenna is doing. Page 191
"The question that twists inside me again and again am I enough? Is he/she experiencing success or roadblocks, and how is the success or roadblocks being handled?

Jenna is resisting on living her life. She is experiencing many roadblocks because she doesn't know how to deal with everything that was handed to her. Most people would think a new life handed to them is something they would take for granted but for Jenna that is not the case. I think she handles her problems well especially since she was given a whole knew life without her consent and she doesn't know any better. But if she could understand what her parents went through then maybe she would've handled everything better.
Page: 72
" I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately... to live deep and suck out all marrow of life.."

What are the common ideas taking place in your novel? In what ways do the common ideas effect your characters choices or actions?

Some common ideas Jenna faces throughout this book is will she live forever and does she have a soul within her body. The body that she now has is full of Bio gel which is not what Jenna wants to be known for. Jenna also knew right away what her parents did to her was not right and if there was a possibility of living forever she didn't want that for herself. Another idea Jenna came back and asked herself if she has a soul or was her dignity stripped away. She didn't know how to live her life fully without knowing if she has a soul or not. She also didn't believe what her parents did was the right thing to do. Page: 175
" I wonder. Is there such a thing? A real Jenna? Or was the old me always waiting to be someone else, too?"

Include one quote from the novel to describe your character. Include the page number you find the quote on.

Jenna was tall but when they gave her a new body they made her shorter. She has medium length hair and was pretty involved with her school before the accident. Her personality reflects off everyone around her and she was very inspiring. After the accident she became more daring and got an attitude mostly because she doesn't really know how to react to situations. I like my character because she seems nice and very open to others. She also speaks her mind and doesn't care what others think. Jenna seems like a person I would want to be friends with. Page: 80
Pieces
"Isn't that what all of life is anyway? Shards. Bits.

What theme topics are you seeing in your novel? Explain a bit how your protagonist is reacting to these topics.

One theme topic is how Jenna doesn't know much about her own body anymore and how she questions for more information. For example she doesn't know if what she is thinking are her own thoughts or if they just being programmed. She also doesn't know what to feel in certain situations like when something good happens should she feel happy or sad? Jenna feels as if she's trapped in a body that isn't hers and she will never die. Page: 166
"There were no days.
There were no nights.
Eighteen months was nothing.
And it was eternity.
Sixteen years of thought trapped in circuitry.
A spinning glass ball.
Shattering inward, Moment by airless moment.
But everyone says, Don't tell.
How can I not?"

What aspects of Dystopian control is being presented in your novel? How are the characters handling them? Do any of these aspects of Dystopian Control resemble conditions happening in our world today?

Jenna is not in control of her own body. Throughout the story her parents tell her that her life is based off a spinning glass ball. If this ball stops spinning it will fall and shatter. She also has a uploaded brain so everything she thinks is not her own thoughts. Some of her knowledge she has was uploaded into her not gained by learning. I don't think this Dystopian control resemble what is happening in our would today. The types of problems Jenna is facing is not happening in our world because if it was we would've heard about it. Page: 106
Choice
"I needed it like I need air.
But no one could hear me.
No one could listen.
No words.

In the Dystopian Elements handout, there are six examples of conflicts the protagonist/main character might got through. These are not the only conflicts the character might encounter, but just a start. Identify at least one internal conflict your main character is experiencing.

One conflict Jenna has ran into is when she cut her hand she saw that something was not right with the inside of her arm. When she asked her parents they explained that after the accident they created a new Jenna and only left 10% of her, so she would live. This explains why Jenna doesn't feel like herself. Jenna also has to live in hiding because what her parents have made her is illegal this means she can't tell anyone and has to be very cautious. Jenna's deepest secrets hide in a netbook her parents have hidden from her. Pg:124 "That environment was my hell. My black void I didn't understand. My endless vacuum where I suffocated, screamed, cried, but no one came to help me."

The setting of my Dystopian novel is very normal. The main character is now living in California after waking from her coma. The house she lives in is big and very expensive. Jenna meets many of her neighbors and becomes friends with one of them his name is Clayton Bender. Jenna is going to a school, it is small and her classmates have all gone through something that has put them there. The weather in California is very warm and sunny just the way Jenna needs it. "After I spent over a year in a coma, how could they have predicted exactly when I would wake up and then move to California precisely at that time? Was it only coincidence? Or did they decide when I would wake up? Why would they keep me in a coma."
