The defense attorney shows a completely different picture than the prosecutor. The defense attorney pleaded that the defendant had only been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Furthermore, he had taken the bottle only to clear his head due to the terrible event and he took the money because he was in shock and did not know what he was actually doing. The prosecutor describes a picture of a stupid black young adult who could have guessed the robbery and drank the bottle of alcohol to celebrate the event. Furthermore, the prosecutor is very racist in that he calls the defendant a stupid animal running through the African savannah.

Supposedly innocent man is sentenced to death:

Last Saturday came the trial of the alleged murderer of Mr. Grope. He was accused of planning a robbery with two other youths and shooting the owner of the store so that he could not identify them. The defense attorney justifies the innocence of the client with the fact that he was only at the wrong place at the wrong time and that the owner would have shot only at the other boys and not at him, because the accused is innocent. The prosecutor made racist remarks against the defendant, calling him a stupid animal running through the savannahs of Africa. Furthermore, he described the defendant as evil, that he would have drank alcohol to celebrate the robbery. The jury decided to find the man guilty, so that he now awaits the death penalty by electric chair.

In Chapter 3, there is another repeated sentence: "I done a lot for this Family over years" which can be found on pages 22/23 in lines 6, 14, 34, and 35.
