Title: A title is always located within a film poster so that the audience are able to identify what is being advertised. Looking at the title we can see this is the largest text that is on the page and is in a red and white font which helps when it comes to the brand identity of the film.

Image: As we can see on the poster the image is a very large but also a central image of the main actor within the film which is a code and convention of a film poster. Also on a film poster there is often a background that relates to the film itself and may also have props too. As we can see in this film poster in the background is an image of the house where everything takes place.

Names Of Actors: Often if familiar actors are being used within a film there name will be often featured somewhere in a large font somewhere on the poster to grab the audiences attention as this may be why they persist to watch the film. As we can see on this poster no names are in a large font, they're all just in the information part in small text at the bottom of the page.

Genre: When it comes to posters it is a must that they are made to look as though they fit a specific genre so it appeals to the correct audience. If we look at this poster we can already tell that it is a horror due to the low key lighting and the facial expression on the young boy gives off the mysterious and earry effect.

Release Date: When it comes to the release date it is usually the specific date that the film will be in cinemas. This normally in a small but a bold font that's located at the bottom of the page. As we can see on this poster its 'April 1st' insinuating this is going to be an autumn blockbuster.

Critics thoughts: Usually posters sometimes persist to have critics opinions on the poster to help draw peoples attention to the film due to whats been said. They are often used to grab film fans attention. As we can see none have been used within this poster, this therefore means that this film isn't aimed at just film fans but also a wider audience.

Colour Scheme: A colour scheme is often used throughout so that all the products for a specific film have a house style to follow meaning that the audience will then therefore be able to recognise products. Looking at this poster there isn't a major colour scheme going on apart from white and red text. The rest of the poster is very dark when it comes to the image that has been used.

Tagline: A tagline is a small sentence that is small and catchy, something memorable to the audience as they will then therefore remember what film it is from. This is something that is located under the title. As we can see on this poster the tagline is 'Its not the house that's haunted.'

Information: The information is seen to be the small text at the bottom of the page that consists of things such as the cast and crew this is important information but not seen to be really important to the audience.

Title: The title once again going to be the largest font on the page. As we can see here it is located at the top of the page. Also, we can see that is located in the center of the page too purely so that when it is on the it can be see what film it is.

Reviews: Normally on the page there a numerous critics opinions about the film and how they felt towards it. The best quotes are always used to emphasis just how good the film was. On this DVD cover we can see that one quote has been featured on the back of the cover and is in quite a large font that stands out to the audience. "One of the scariest films of all time."

Images: When it comes to the images the main character/characters are always used. On the front cover a main image is used, the middle piece often has an image and again on the back images of the main characters or anyone/anything that is seen to be important are used, these are known to be screen grabs. As we can see on this a picture of the two girls are used on both the back and front of the DVD cover and quite large as they are seen to be most significant. This then leads to a few smaller images of events that may be important within the film.

Plot synopsis: A plot synopsis is simply a brief outline of what the film is about without having any spoilers about the film itself. As we can see on this DVD it is located on the back as always in a white font.

Special features: Often some DVDs will have special features within there film and this could mean a range of things. As we can see on the back of this cover is tells us how this DVD 'includes never-before-seen found footage.'

Information: Sometimes DVD covers will also include the information section again just like on posters. This will be located on the back of a DVD cover just like we can see here. This will hold specific information such as who the musics by, the production company, producer etc.

Production Company Logo: This is where the logo of the company is located on both the back and center piece of the DVD. although looking here we can see that its only located on the back of the cover.

Tagline: Again a tagline will also be used so that it fits in with the house style and also so that the target audience will recognise what film its from. In this case its 'Discover how the activity began. it runs in the family.' which is located again by the title.

Colour Scheme: Again a colour scheme has to be used to fit in with the house style so it is possible what things belong with each other. As we can see red, black, white and a very pale blue is used on this DVD cover. This also helps when it comes to the genre of the film.

DVD Logo: This is always used on the front/back and center piece of the cover to help signify what the media type of the audience.

Masthead: First of all you will have the title of the magazine itself which will be the largest text on the page and is usually located at the top. as we can see here the title is 'Empire' and as said, is located at the top of the page.

Title: The title is the second piece of text that is largest on screen. This will normally be the name of the film being advertised, main actor in the film or something else related to the film itself.

Central Image: The image that is normally used is either an actor in costume or out, depending in what context the film is being spoken about. As we can see here the central image used is HellBoy advertising the film, 'HellBoy 2.'

Pug: A pug is in place to help grab the attention of readers. This will mean text will be looked within a shape usually a circle to stand out more to the audience. As we can see here on this magazine the pug says '40 movies that will get you sex!'

Colour scheme: Depending on what film is being advertised there will always be colour scheme that has been followed. We can see on this magazine cover due to HellBoy being red a red and black colour scheme has been used which also helps with the atmosphere and genre of the film.

Buzzwords: Buzzwords are things that stand out to the read and what will make them want to read even more. The main buzz words that is normally used is EXCLUSIVE! Looking at this magazine we can see the words 'FIRST LOOK!'

House style: A house style will always be followed and as we can see within the front cover there are a variety of fonts that are very similar to one another but they all persist to be the same, even things such as the title and buzzwords.

Issue number: This is normally located in a small font on the page so that features are able to therefore be traced back.

Barcode: A barcode is in place so that the magazine is able to be purchased.

Release date: This is also normally in a small font. This is so that when being purchased they know how recent it is, especially when they are released on a monthly basis.

Cover lines: Cover lines are in place to allow the reader to know whats featured inside the magazine without the reader looking inside. We can see on this magazine they are located on the left hand side.

Banner: A banner is simply in place to feature both text and images about the rest of the magazine.

Smaller images: Smaller images are normally located on the front of a magazine to show things that may appear in the magazine such as events and other films. As we can see this magazine doesn't have this.
