Expectations are cool as long as the expectation isn't perfection because THAT is impossible. I hear a lot of my friends talking about "releasing their expectations" of other people, but I don't know how they can hold people to a standard then. Maybe they can't? Maybe the only expectations that matter are the ones we have for ourselves?

Expectations affect you as they manipulate you in a way. The expectations that others have for you forces you to live your life striving to who they want you to be not necessarily what you want yourself to be. Personal expectations are your personal goals and may result because of what you want to present yourself as, not disappointing those around you. Expectations can be for the better but it can also be for the worse.

It defines what is perfection in the eyes of influential figures such as mothers. The ultimate goal is to gain social acceptance and to feel worth.

expectations for me are serious and not so serious. i try my best to live up to my expectations and not on others because i know that i shouldn't pleased others on what they want me to be. though i do respect others opinions like my parents, i know they do expect certain things from me as their daughter but i try my best to do what works for me and leaves me happy in the end. i do know that if it is understood in a wrong way it can affect ones mind and relationship with anyone that person is with. overall i think its important to have healthy goals of expectations for yourself and others, because it makes you a better person.

I think expectations affect my morals, I have certain expectations for my grades and my sports in that I constantly want to get better, and it affects me at a person because I think expectations affect your future. I don't think people should have huge expectations of you if you don't want to achieve it, I think you have a big role to play in you own expectations and goals. I think people have different meanings of perfection. I think perfection is the best you can be, but people can look at perfection as nearly impossible to achieve.

I think that expectations influence the way I act and why I make decisions. Expectations can be good and bad. Some expectations can help hold people accountable whereas other expectations can wear you down. I don’t think that anyone should expect perfection out of anyone. I do not think that perfection is achievable as perfection looks different by everyone’s standards.
