Scientists and researchers have been wondering for decades how to make a megastructure that would provide our species with a far greater chance of survival. The Dyson Swarm has been proposed several times, but the government has decided to fix the current infinitesimal problems instead of preparing for impending doom. And by doom, I mean a 20-mile-wide asteroid colliding with our planet and wreaking havoc on the surface, from hyper-winds to molten lava geysers. The concept of the Dyson Swarm should be made a reality before our solar system is on a trajectory of certain doom.
 
The Dyson Swarm (previously proposed as the Dyson Sphere) is a "militia" of solar panels the size of a square kilometer launched into the sun's orbit and collecting energy while shooting it back to our planet. A common issue that comes with most structures is that we need to find a way to transport these pieces of perhaps the biggest megastructure humans will ever create. A rocket would be useless since thousands of trips to the sun would require a lot of material and fuel. This would lead to useless squandering, one of the main reasons governments do not want to invest in the future. Kurzgesagt (In a Nutshell) proposed an idea in which a rail gun would launch these giant engineered structures into space. This is a good solution and a lot of research has been done on it, so there we go; impending doom escaped.
 
The Dyson Swarm could help us advance to interstellar and perhaps intergalactic travel. The Dyson Swarm will change the world, and maybe even the solar system. Earth's materials will not suffice to build a complete Dyson swarm. Juxtaposing the current amount of material we have on Earth and the material we need to make the Dyson Swarm, we will never make the Dyson Swarm before hundreds of thousands of asteroids collide with us and wipe humanity out. This is why we need to destroy a planet, literally. Mercury may just have enough material to create the necessary solar panels to change our energy production and help us travel intergalactically. There you have it: a large portion of the solar system has been destroyed; and more!
 
The Dyson Swarm may take a while to complete, but the time and money are worth the investment. Infinite energy can mean a lot of things to humanity. We can completely convert to renewable energy sources, mainly solar panels. Our planet will thrive again, and natural disasters will be fewer. Hurricanes will have less water to go off of, and forest fires will have less heat to start with. We will have a chance to repent for the mistakes of the past and help every species in existence. Our murder of thousands of animals for meat will end, as methane gas will be hated by every environmentalist. We could transport our trash with our new-found energy to inhabitable planets. Humanity could advance, help the Earth, and colonize other planets like never before.
Why should we invest in a solar-system-changing megastructure when we can't even properly handle our planet? This is a common query, and there is no certain answer. Scientists and researchers, as well as organizations such as space.com, have stated that due to current issues, humanity will not be able to build bases on the Moon before world wars break out. Unnecessary wars need to end now before humans go extinct in an unpredicted collision or unprecedented supernova. If this simple yet complex task is completed, humanity will be able to do much more than just the Dyson Swarm.
 
Current unnecessary problems include war, crime, and inflation. Humanity has to find a way to not care about economies whatsoever and do whatever it takes for us to thrive in the future. Forget about income; we could just help each other and benefit as a whole. Poverty wouldn't exist! Unfortunately, it isn't as easy as that. Now that the economy and currency exist, it will never go away. Additionally, larger problems may arise when economies do not exist. Putin stated that Ukraine was part of "ancient Russian lands," but why worry about Earth when we have the opportunity to use the new-found energy to colonize entire planets?
 
The Dyson Swarm could help us make bases on other planets and perhaps go at intergalactic speeds. The governments of the world should stop fighting over petty things like land, and instead invest most of their time since our species is on the brink of existence. We will inevitably disappear from our universe one day, but that can be postponed if humankind starts investing in the times to come.

For example, the first movies were made by moving pictures very fast. GIF's are just a smaller version of that, and I learned how to create them using an application called UnFREEz (suggested by Ms. Balcomb). A big part of my identity has to do with technology; I just love to code and create products and/or edited photos or videos using technology. I had first learned how to use photoshop at my old school, and then started advancing to more complicated but higher-quality programs such as iMovie. Now, with Windows computers I am using an application called "Premiere Pro."
