The clothing library warehouse is powered by renewable energy, and they ship plastic-free, offsetting all emissions. Clothes can be rented and returned to the clothing library. They wash all the clothes in their eco-friendly ozone room. The Ozone room kills bacteria and viruses and cleans clothes for the next rental. The rental period is approximately 2 weeks up to 1 month. Normal and express delivery of the clothes is possible as well. The late fees are £ 20 per item every day the return is delayed.

What Are Clothing Libraries?

Definition: Borrowable wardrobes—like a public library, but for clothing rather than books. You check items out, wear them, then return them.

Core concept: Embrace the circular economy, reducing textile waste by encouraging reuse rather than constant new clothing purchases.

How They Operate

Membership/subscription systems: Users pay a fee or credits—e.g., Lena Fashion Library uses a credit-per-day model.
Borrow & return process: Borrow items (formalwear, casual, etc.), use them for a set period, then return them for someone else to enjoy.
Curated selections: Quality is key—items are cleaned, checked, and often sourced second-hand or via donations.

Benefits & Motivations

Waste reduction: Significantly cuts down on textile waste by maximizing the life-cycle of garments.

Cost-saving: Cheaper than owning or renting for a single occasion—ideal for occasional formalwear or trying new styles.

Access-over-ownership mindset: Supports diverse wardrobes and experimentation without clutter or environmentally harmful fast fashion.

Community engagement: Often includes events, workshops, and a shared ethos of sustainability.
