Femme fatales is an event by students for students and student run organizations. It is literally a fundraiser for oasis, and an opportunity for student artists, organizations, and clubs to advertise themselves (Acapella groups, dance groups, ect.) . It's our signature event, and femme fatales is a concept that will make money for oasis.

Femme Fatales promotes an artistic community for all identities to come together toward a common cause that benefits a severely important non-profit in Watauga County. It is also something that people outside of the Women's Center look forward to. Not doing Femmes Fatales this year would be uncharacteristic of our organization.

Femme Fatales brings a lot of recognition to the Women's Center as many folks discover the WC through Femme Fatales. The partnership with Oasis also resonates strongly with and gives a voice to young women at App State, as adolescent and young adult women experience some of the highest rates of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault. Oasis is an invaluable resource to women in these situations who may otherwise not have the knowledge to access these resources.

People come to fun things - and fun Women’s center events brings people into the center! Events like Femme Fatales is the solution to concerns that the tri-centers are under-utilized! Plus - we love OASIS and want to the spread the love, resources and information!

Femme Fatales is the most important event we do all year. All the volunteers have a blast putting it together. We always have a huge turnout, and it’s even better because we’re raising money for Oasis. It’s also the event the Women’s Center is known for.

OASIS is a huge part of our community and resources, we need to bring more awareness to both the resources we have the students at app state and the resources that we support.

Oftentimes when I discuss my position at the women’s center with other App State students, they predominately recognize the Femme Fatales event. Not only does it show the campus community that the Women’s Center is more than just a room in the student union, it connects them with new and helpful recourses. Our partnership and cooperation with Oasis is one of my favorite aspects of the Women’s Center. I believe that Oasis, although off campus, is still an important recourse for App State students. All in all, this event is not just a party but an opportunity for the women’s center to cultivate community and spread awareness about services available in Boone.
