The Navajo Code Talkers faced hardships. Growing up they learned that speaking their Native tongue was not allowed and they needed to conform. But now they are being told to use their differences to their advantage. They were not recognized for years after the war because of how classified they were. They were honored with silver and gold congressional medals. Using their native tongues showed the importance of diversity

At first many Nisei army troops faced a lot of discrimination. This is because many doubted the loyalty of the Japanese Americans for the Destruction of the Pearl Harbor. But the Japanese Americans fought in order to show just how much they loved their country and demonstrate that they were not mad because their families were locked away from true society. One major thing that the 442nd Regimental Combat team did was to go rescue a captured Battalion from the Texas Division. As many men were lost the team was able to save the texas division battalion in the end. Some units within the 442nd Regimental Combat team earned one of the highest medals, the Congressional Medal of Honor, or more simply known as The Medal of Honor
- Patricia Pliego

These heroes faced sexist discrimination. Men did not think women could handle flying airplanes and did not think women should be part of the war other than just as nurses. Yonally P. was honored with the Congressional Gold Medal, 65 years after her service, but was sad that fewer than 300 of her 1,100 fellow WASP were alive to receive it. Women finally took a role in the war after not being taken seriously and flew airplanes which is crazy specially because of the time period this happened in.
