1. The element that makes short stories interesting is the storyline (plot). Because the conflict presented must be able to be packaged briefly but still complete. Of course, this is different from other stories that have a longer storyline (plot).
Character. The characters also make for interesting short stories. If the writer can describe the characters strongly, make characters like real enough,  it will make the story good.

2. Generally, i found two characters which are in conflict. But, sometimes in short story i just found one main character which is everything about the story is telling about him/ her.
