You will be accommodated at the Pullman Bucharest World Trade Center (10 Montreal Square District 1, 011469, Bucharest). This is where the activities will also take place!

Situated 16.5 km North of Bucharest center, Henri Coanda International Airport is the largest Romanian airport, serving 67 external destinations and 9 domestic destinations.

 

You can always take the bus to Hotel Pullman: Right outside the airport, you will find the STB kiosk and the bus stop. After buying your ticket, take bus no. 783 for 10 stops (around 30’) and get off at Piata Presei bus stop. The Pullman Hotel is located at a walking distance of 400 meters (around 5’).

 

Built between 1868 and 1872, the Bucharest North Railway is the main railway station in Bucharest and the largest railway station in Romania. The vast majority of mainline trains to and from Bucharest originate from Gara de Nord.

 

To Hotel Pullman: Outside the train station, at the Gara de Nord bus stop, take bus no. 105 for 16 stops (almost 20'). Get off at Spitalul CFR 2  and walk for about 2 minutes to the Hotel.

The public transport system in Bucharest is one of the densest in Europe, with a network of 116 bus lines, 20 trolleybus lines and 25 tram lines, including the light rail, whizzing around the city from morning to night.

Map the routes of surface public transport can be viewed on the STB website.

Passenger transport in Bucharest is also provided by the subway network, which is among the most used public transport systems.

If you prefer to enjoy the quick city sightseeing from a comfortable car, you can take an Uber or Bolt. 

You already know the drill if you used it before. Just make sure you have the app on your mobile phone and the hotel address! Fares may vary depending on the distance and the traffic hour. 

We recommend that you use the counters at the airport arrivals hall for ordering taxis or get the train (4 mins walk from the airport). It is advisable to avoid taxis outside the airport/train station.  If your option still stays for a taxi, keep in mind that the average cost should be around 50 - 60 RON (around 12 EUR), but you will have to pay in cash, in the national currency.

In case of COVID-19 suspicion, the NA team can provide additional rapid COVID-19 testing. Please bear in mind that the number of rapid tests is limited and will be distributed at the request of participants with symptoms. Rapid COVID-19 tests are also available for purchase in any local pharmacy. 

Participants who tested positive for COVID-19 or identified as COVID-19 contacts during their stay may have to be quarantined, in line with locally applicable rules.

Please note: possible costs related to PCR tests, vaccination, quarantine, and hospitalization during and after the event will not be covered. The organizers' team will support you, though, should you be tested for COVID-19 positive.

 

Other information

Weather
Luckily for us, the forecast is announcing plenty of sun for August, with around 29 - 31 degrees during the day, and dropping towards 16 degrees in the nighttime.
However, it might be good to check the weather forecast closer to the moment, just to be prepared.

Money
Currency is the Romanian leu ([l-e-u], plural lei [lej]; code: RON). It is subdivided into 100 bani ([banʲ], singular: ban [ban]), a word that also means "money" in Romanian. If you may need to pay in cash please be aware that payments are made in lei.
The current exchange rate is quite stable at approx. 5 lei for 1 EUR.

Electricity
For Romania, there are two associated plug types, types C and F. The power grid generated 220V.

Where: This intercultural sharing will happen during each of the 6 breaks, taking turns. We will decide on this together with you in the first session.

How:  We will set up a dedicated table for this, where during each break, 2 - 3 countries/cultures can display any type of amenities that you can bring with you and represent your own culture at local, regional and/or national level (e.g.: little flags, brochures, sweets or any goodies that you can safe carry with you, etc.). It is not mandatory. We just want to offer this option also, so people can enjoy intercultural learning by talking around during breaks. 

I currently focus on finding new ways to support children and youth to learn in a better, more attractive way, and to support youth workers and educational professionals to achieve it. I believe in Art of Hosting principles and in the power of a group to have meaningful conversations.

I love improvisation theatre, nature (being also a former scout), kayaking, (street) art, reading and... many other things. I like learning and discovering new things.
