This unit reviews the food words that the pupil is familiar with and then introduces the pupil to the structure and vocabulary of recipes. The pupil is encouraged to prepare and write his/her own recipe. Finally, the pupil is encouraged to collaborate with the other pupils in order to prepare a class recipe book. The pupil is encouraged to move from the personal domain of language acquisition to the public domain. In the public domain the pupil interacts and uses the language acquired.

In this unit pupils acquire the language to introduce themselves. First, the pupils hear other children their age introducing themselves, then the pupils learn about penpals. The pupils introduce themselves in writing, read letters from other penpals and write to their own penpal. Finally the pupils 
interview a friend and write a fact file about their friend.

This unit is about adopting a pet. First, the pupils learn about animals as pets.  Then the pupils think about buying a pet or adopting a pet. The pupils then learn about pets which take care of people. In the final lessons the pupils choose an animal that they would like to adopt.
