         <description><![CDATA[<div>the Selective service was a draft that all men between 18 and 45 were required to enter. They then chose groups of men in the draft to join the military.The United States actually began the Selective service in September of 1940, before the war had started. 50 million men would sign up for the selective service with 10 million of those being enlisted in the army. This means 1/5 men that were already not in the military were sent off. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Woman in the military had their own branches of service with those being The army, The air force, and volunteer military services. 350,000 woman enlisted into the military by the end of 1941. Some woman enlisted into the military searching for revenge of their former husbands who had died in the bombing of pearl harbor. About 70% of the women in the military had jobs that did not see combat like typists and clerks. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During WWII minority military service was a step towards equality but still far from perfect. Segregation was still a very common practice in the military. Although the military was an escape from harsh living conditions for 1.1 million soldiers, with 1 million of those being African American. They were segregated during both training and on the battle field.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Due to the draft and the need for more men in the military many men were forced to leave their families behind. This left women to keep the economy moving, which is why many women took up jobs. The government encouraged them to take up jobs that would support the war. 65% of the U.S workforce were jobs that directly supported the war with many of these workers being women.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Office of price administration was put into action by the Emergency management of the United States. It was put into action on August 28th 1941 with the intention of keeping the economy stable when WWII broke out. It controlled prices on consumer goods and rents. This is why rationing was enforced. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> One January 30th, 1942  the Office of Price Administration gained the ability to control prices on goods. This was due to the scarcity of goods during WWII. They used this system of controlling prices and giving each person a certain number of points to conserve and distribute goods. These points that each person received came in the form of food stamps.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A war bond is a loan to the U.S government for a return that is used to help finance the war. Patriotism is a large reason behind the appeal. They also helped keep the economy stable. WWII was the last time that the U.S issued war bonds. Prices of war bonds ranged from $10 to $1000. </div>]]></description>

They used many advertisement strategies to attract citizens to jobs that would support the war. They also pushed the buying of war bonds and most of all for men to join the military.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japanese internment camps were isolation camps in reaction to the bombing of pearl harbor. These camps were put into place by Franklin Roosevelt. Japanese Americans were put into these camps with no probable cause. It affected countless families and the lives of 117,000 people.</div>]]></description>
