- Actually, I discovered that my dream career is to be a teacher, and I really like it. At work, they call me “Licenciada,” and that motivates me.

Why do you choose Cren instead of a normal closer to you?

- Because I didn’t like the study plan, and I also wanted to experience living in a place far from home.

No, in fact, I'm studying my second option, but as the semesters have gone by, I've really liked it.

What moment has made you happy?

I can't choose just one, but it would definitely be the trips with my family.

Although in the first semesters I had the opportunity to attend schools to observe or provide assistance, it wasn't until the third semester that I started planning and teaching classes. The first class I taught was in first grade; at first, I found it a bit difficult to plan the lessons and activities because, being a younger grade, they are in the process of learning to read and write, so the activities had to be guided. The second grade I taught was sixth grade, where the dynamics were different since they, knowing how to read and write, are more independent in carrying out activities and therefore do not need too much help; it is evident that the way of working with younger grades is very different from working with older grades because there are different interests, dynamics, and needs. Although throughout the practices there were some challenges, both experiences were rewarding, as there was great participation and interest from both groups; moreover, the first-year students were very sweet with me, while with the sixth-year students I managed to build a friendship.

My biggest dream as a future tecaher

I want to be a teacher who inspires her students to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams; who don't see school as an obligation, but as a positive place, where their curiosity is awakened, where each class is interesting and exciting for them. I want to build an environment of trust and mutual respect, where they don't see me just as their teacher, but as their guide and friend.

In the following semesters, I had 4th grade, a very calm group. They already considered themselves “big kids,” so they didn’t like being given stars. The topic I taught them was sexuality, which was very difficult; the students would cover their eyes, say inappropriate words, or simply ignore everything. I took on the topic because the teacher was supposed to support me, but he never showed up.

Later, I worked with 5th grade, which has been my favorite group so far. I had always wanted small groups, but now I think that’s not really for me. With them, the dynamic was very nice. Although at first one student used to insult me, little by little I won him over by not taking things personally. We could talk about many funny things while also getting work done. I realized that the activities I designed for them were truly enjoyable, because they never used to do their homework, and that changed.

I was amazed by their potential to imagine and create models and bird feeders from scratch. Without a doubt, in these past practices I learned to work with patience and tolerance.

My biggest dream as a future tecaher

My aspiration is to be a committed, loving teacher with a lot of patience. I want to create a dynamic and close environment with my students, where they can trust me and communicate openly, while still respecting my role as their teacher. In addition, I want to grow professionally within the Secretariat of Public Education, aspiring to a position of greater responsibility, such as supervisor, in order to contribute to educational development from different levels.

At first, it was controlling my nerves before teaching a class, but little by little, they began to disappear. I also had to maintain patience, especially in moments when students are easily distracted and it's difficult to regain their attention. Another challenge has been implementing effective group management dynamics, since each grade level has different characteristics, so dynamics must be implemented according to their interests and ages. Looking ahead, one of the challenges I may face is communicating with parents, as disagreements can arise. Although challenges can sometimes be difficult, they help us grow; in my case, they have helped me realize what has worked for me and also what I need to improve.

One of the most meaningful experiences for me was when I got to know them a little bit and realized that each student had a different way of perceiving the topics I taught them every day. Something that stood out to me was the number of students with family problems and the impact these have on the classroom, as most students require more attention from their parents.
