All students at LCCM have online access to the library resources of our partner institution University for the Creative Arts
The library holds a large range of books, journal articles and other resources which will be useful to you in your course at LCCM
During your studies you will be asked to research various topics: the UCA Library is one of the places you will find valuable sources of information

How do I find my login details?

You will receive an email from UCA, telling you your UCA ‘myRecords’ username and password.

This is different from your LCCM login details.

Follow instructions in the email to set up your account and log in to UCA network.

Visit https://mylibrary.uca.ac.uk/partners

A direct link to the library can be found in the dock on all LCCM computers.

Explain that you are an LCCM student and give explain your problem - for example, you have not received your details from UCA, or the login details don't work.

What is held in the UCA Library?

Through the UCA myLibrary website you can search the main catalogue to find and access digital books and journals.

You can also search separate catalogues of journals and databases to which UCA subscribes.

The journals collection includes academic ('peer-reviewed') work as well as industry journals and magazines for the general reader.

The databases provide access to audio, video, images and different kinds of data as well as further academic articles.

Where is the resource I need?

There are search fields for the main library catalogue, the databases collection and journals collection. You can search using subject keywords in any of these.

You can also filter your search to limit the subject area, type of resource or date, for example. This focuses your search.

The library holds different types of information source - material originally aimed at various types of audience.

We should treat different kinds of material differently, depending on it's particular qualities.

For example, we can usually assume that peer-reviewed writing is well-researched and therefore reliable. Information on a website or, for example, in a magazine intended for the general reader may be opinion that is not necessarily based on clear evidence.

Whatever sources we use, we need to recognise what kind of material they are and assess them critically: ask yourself 'why was this produced; when; by whom; for what audience; with what aim; based on what evidence?'
