Army Base Falls

Fighters from ISIS attack a military base in northern Syria. This furthers their control of the Iraqi/Syrian border. Obama is also thinking about moving his airstrikes into Syria but he is conflicted because he does not want to move more troops into Syria. ISIS have now gained weapons from attacking the military base.

James Foley's Death

Control of the Mosul Dam

Isis seized control of the largest hydroelectric dam in Iraq giving them control over the Tigris river the water is used as as a key resource for many people living in the middle east. Isis however, is threatening to use the dam as a weapon, against the Kurdish forces fighting back

America isn't sure what to do! Obama is questioning sending food and airstrikes to help refugees as Kurdish forces fight against Isis to stop them from gaining control. However, airstrikes may cause Isis to fight back.

Isis has Weapons

ISIS is an extremist terrorist group, who strongly disagrees with American policies. By attacking the military base in Syria, ISIS has gained weapons such airplanes, helicopters, tanks and ammo. ISIS is prepared to fight, which is why they are harboring weapons, and we don't want them to attack us next.

The No Pay Policy

The US is now questioning whether they should be paying for the captives of not. Obviously the families of the people being held captive want the US to pay the ransom but the US has a no pay policy for a reason. They don't want to be taken advantage of by different countries and terrorist groups.

Many people think that Obama is being lazy in this situation, but to extend forces and airstrikes in Syria would need more money and soldiers. There are many different sides for this story, who to believe is still unclear.

Obama Unsure

With all of the different opinions coming form the American Government, Obama is still unsure whether to send troups to fight Isis, to send air strikes, or just to stand back and be bystanders on the situation. Some articles say Obama is doing different things but we are still unclear.

Too many opinions

Every story has a different bias, with different opinions, people can twist the facts. The best source to believe is the facts as they come. ISIS is unpredictable and listening to bias opinions is giving Americans false info, adding to the issue.

When looking at the articles I noticed that the only articles that seemed like they knew the truth were the articles who had hard facts and a neutral opinion to them. ISIS cannot be trusted for information and Obama doesn't seem to really care as much as he should about ISIS so it is hard to find a resource to trust.
